If Obama wins, Romney could be 'repackaged' for 2012 GOP challenge

WASHINGTON—A week from today, Americans will pick a new president, but a surprising beneficiary may be off the ballot: Mitt Romney.

With polls in key states forecasting a comfortable victory by Sen. Barack Obama and fellow Democrats, Republicans may find themselves booted out of the White House, shoved further into the minority in Congress and marginalized in the powerhouse of Washington.

If Sen. John McCain loses next Tuesday, Romney could be well positioned to rise as a leader of the Republican Party to guide conservatives through a few years in the political wilderness and a favorite for the GOP presidential nomination come 2012.

“Romney is McCain but with worse Christian right numbers. It is Palin drawing crowds not the liberal end of the ticket and only those with the idiot blinders on can’t see it. Romney has no chance at a win, huge portions of Christians can’t vote for him no matter who you put on his ticket with him.”

Exactly. If Romney was such a ball of fire on the campaign trail and the base loved him, he’d be the nominee. He couldn’t even beat McCain, hardly beloved by the base and with nowhere near the financial resources Romney had.

Romney would be fine as a VP pick for a young conservative. He’s a Bush Senior, not the future of the Republican party or the conservative movement.

Where there’s lots of smoke, there’s likely lots of fire... Get your head out of the sand about what is going on inside the campaign.

The RomneyBOTs sure ignore the facts that their Master has
a LONG history of being a devious, venal, flip-flopping, backstabber.

So, in your world, every person who has ever been soft on the pro-life issue should never change his mind and become pro-life...

In my world, someone who keeps changing his mind back and forth on such a fundamental issue as abortion demonstrates a lack of core values and generates distrust. When he ran for governor, Romney was "pro-choice," and then became a born-again pro-lifer as he began his run for the presidency--until he got to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he came out in favor of "states rights" on the issue.

This is how my husband and I see it... She appears as a very, very, very nice down-to-earth lady. She needs to appear a little more professional (i.e., a Governor). She needed to discuss policy in much more detail (not just generics) and has not done that.

Good, but we need Romney now. Hopefully, John McCain will win and he’ll be assisting with the economy in whatever way he can.

Like he assisted by supporting the socialist Bail-out plan?

Unless Romney moves FAR left to meet them, he would have NO chance.

Well, he has already proven he can do that.

Soft on pro life issues, are you kidding he was pro abortion/choice until he decided to run for president. soft - LOL

Not according to the father of the pro-life movement:

"Unlike other candidates who only speak to the importance of confronting the major social issues of the day, Governor Romney has a record of action in defending life. Every decision he made as governor was on the side of life. I know he will be the strong pro-life president we need in the White House, Governor Romney is the only candidate who can lead our pro-life and pro-family conservative movement to victory in 2008." - Dr. John Willke

Dr. Willke was a founder of the National Right To Life Committee and served for 10 years as its founding president. Dr. Willke serves as president of the Life Issues Institute, Inc., and founding president of the International Right to Life Federation.

I challenge you to find an endorsement for any presidential candidate in this cycle that came from someone with stronger pro-life credentials.

Listen, Romney knows what he’s doing. He knows how to raise capital for business. I’m glad he assisted and, if McCain wins the election, Romney will help further in any way he can with the economny.

My Congressman voted against the first bailout plan, and then when it came back to the House, negotiated a much better deal that got a huge amount of pork out of it. I’m very proud of my Congressman.

Unfortunately, because of lack of oversight by the Congressional dems, the bailout needed to be done.

Any reasoning will do for your agenda, any notion to try and dvidie conservatives, so long as it ushers Barack Obama into the Presidency. You are consistent in your campaign at FR, barackanist.

More incoherent babbling and juvenile name-calling.

Oh, and by the way, I'm still waiting for the sliced pears and Swiss, and some answers to those five questions.
