Probably just divide and conquer disinformation, folks. Shiny-thing distraction which means NOTHING.

One team, one fight.

Bigger domestic enemies right now than chasing imaginary phantoms.

Stand down, until otherwise proven accurate.

“Before everyone starts attacking Romney, please remember the ENEMEDIA LIES all the time! Don’t fall for it!”

A lot of Romney supporters may not recognize it, but American Spectator is a conservative magazine.

“The American Spectator is a conservative U.S. monthly magazine covering news and politics, edited by R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. and published by the non-profit American Spectator Foundation. From its founding in 1967 until the late 1980s, the small-circulation magazine featured the writings of authors such as Thomas Sowell, Tom Wolfe, P.J. O’Rourke, George F. Will, Malcolm Gladwell, Patrick J. Buchanan, Alex Linder and Malcolm Muggeridge,”

THANK YOU! This was the piece I originally referenced on this thread:

GLOVES OFF

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may be putting on a brave face for the cameras after losing out to Gov. Sarah Palin for the veepship, but his ever-loyal cadre of aides and consultants and conservative media types continue to work for him.

Almost every critical remark made about Palin on a recent briefing call about her selection came from political consultants with ties to Romney. Those comments were planted, says one, because they knew that reporters would be on the call.

What is being overlooked here is that the absolute conviction of Romney and many of his supporters is this: It is pre-ordained by God  that he shall save the US constitution that will be "hanging by a thread".

Salt Lake Tribune, Nov. 11, 1999,  an article titled, "Did Hatch Allude To LDS Prophecy?"

The article stated:

Sen. Orrin Hatch has denied his Republican presidential campaign is motivated by a longing to fulfill an obscure Mormon myth. But during an interview with a Mormon Church-owned radio station this week he borrowed the exact phrasing of the apocalyptic belief.

According to the so-called "White Horse Prophecy," the U.S. Constitution will be hanging by a thread and a church elder from Zion will ride in on a metaphorical white horse and save it.

There will be denials of this by mormons, but check out this link for a listing of many statements and predictions of this  by mormon leaders Including George Romney:

“Anyone can look at the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith... Brigham Young and others.... I have always felt that they meant that sometime the question of whether we are going to proceed on the basis of the Constitution would arise and at this point government leaders who were Mormons would be involved in answering that question.”

-    George Romney, interview in “A Man’s Religion and American Politics: An Interview with Governor Romney,” Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Autumn 1967, v. 2, p. 25

Reminds one of:

"You will embrace this rebellion. Support it, from our lands in
the north. I will gain English favor by condemning it and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south. Whichever way
the tide runs, we will rise."

Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a "diva" and was going off message intentionally.

Ah, so now we get the truth behind those rumors. Romney is a disgrace.

I am very aware that “The American Spectator is a conservative U.S. monthly magazine...

My point is, before having knee jerk reactions to something in the press, wait until all the facts are uncovered, before attacking those within our own Party!

It is obvious that someone is sabotaging McCain, and I'm sure there are many "insiders" who feel very threatened by Palin's popularity. McCain needs to do a much better job than President Bush did,of discovering who his enemies are, and then dealing with them appropriately.

We need to stay focussed on being United and DEFEATING Obama!
IMHO

I think the rumors are being spread and written up by anonymous Obama staffers. They have Colin Powell, now they are trying to split the GOP even more.

You could be on to something, Citizen.

the rare times I have spotted Mitt, he was supportive and promoting the Republican ticket...this is a petty thread. Glad to see you two stand up for him.

Well, there's little point in writing if you can't annoy someone, as a better writer than I once opined. So, why not stick up for Mitt?

OK, let’s say I agree that Romney is off the hook - at least for now, benefit of the doubt and all that... if these guys are carrying the torch for Romney and undercutting our candidates, would you agree that they ought to be cleaned out, WHOEVER THEY ARE, and if they turn out to be Romney loyalists, THEN Romney ought to say something?

It's hardly my place to advise the Romney camp.

How much control does a candidate have over people who no longer work for him? This all seems really quite silly.

This is an unsourced article.

Gotta say, it sounds plausible to me.

There seem to be any number of Romney backers who viscerally hate Palin on matters of style and class origin rather than issues. Exhibit A: Kathleen Parker.

From a bit different angle see:

Or just google “white horse prophecy mormonism”.

I believe it. A Mormon friend of mine (Romney supporter) has been really strangely negative about Palin...even considering voting for Obama at one point.

Very well said. I love it how supposedly intelligent freepers go all knee jerky based on a story citing "unnamed sources" blaming "unnamed former aides." Sheesh.

It is just as likely that the same guys who started all those political infighting stories on politico.com during the primaries are behind this. The libs would rather sow discord among us and distract us rather than have us united against Obama.

Romney will be too old to run in 2012...

The RomneyBots screamed that FRed was “too old” at 65 to run this time...

In 2012, Romney will be 65+...

So I’m sure he wont be running...

:)

For every former Mitt supporter who seems to have gone off the reservation there are 10 more who are strongly in support of the ticket, including Meg Whitman, chief campaign spokesman Kevin Madden, Hugh Hewitt, Rich Lowry, Wendy Long (who was fabulous on Laura Ingraham today BTW) etc.

Most importantly, just as McCain is not responsible for what people scream out during his rallies, Romney is not responsible for comments allegedly made by former supporters (IF it is even true).

Romney, and his top supporters, have campaigned for the McCain/Palin ticket non-stop since dropping out. While some of his supporters may not be able to put politics aside, Mitt Romney has put country first.

If this is true, Romney will never get my vote.

Sadly, I don't doubt it even for a second. Romney is the antithesis of Palin. She's a genuine conservative. He's a complete phony.

Not sure if I'd come back from 3rd party obscurity to vote Romney in 2012, but I agree that Palin is a lightweight and calm, unemotional, right-thinking people can see this.
