DALLAS (Reuters) - If Republican John McCain loses the November 4 election as most polls predict, his party may be in for a rough period of soul searching.
Analysts and some party activists say losing the White House will highlight the pitfalls of relying too heavily on a narrow foundation of conservative Christians whose support has nonetheless become crucial to Republican electoral success.
But some social conservatives say a victory for Democrat Barack Obama, whom they regard as an "ultra-liberal," will energize them for the 2010 congressional "mid-term" races and the 2012 White House battle.

You said — “With any luck, a renewed and resolute affirmation, en masse, to never, EVER allow party “moderates” and RINOS to dictate either campaign strategy or candidate ever again.”
Amen to that... :-)
I mean that. We should have never had McCain in there in the first place. We get what we deserve (or what most of these voters who put McCain in there deserve), which is to — apparently — *lose*...
I hate losing, but I don’t like the likes of McCain winning either. But, I hate the likes of Obama winning even more so.
It’s a campaign geared on the idea “Who do you hate the most?” (then vote for the other... LOL...).
Spoken as a diehard RINO, the center right can win elections. The far right wing of the GOP is going to have to pull their heads out and wake to the fact that they CAN NEVER WIN with their agenda.
COP: M-mm-many apologies, Voter Colonel. Had I known it was you...
He slowly lowers his gun, lowers his head, and clicks his heels in a salute.
COP: Forgive me.
SEBASTIAN: You know me?
COP: Of course, Voter Colonel.
SEBASTIAN: Who am I?
COP: You... are... Colonel Sebastian Doyle. Section chief of CGI. Head of the Ministry of Alteration.
SEBASTIAN: Remind me a little. What do we do at the "Ministry of Alteration?"
COP: You... change people, sir.
SEBASTIAN: In what way?
COP: You change them from being alive people, to being dead people.
To purify democracy.
BILLY: Purify?!
COP: No one has done more to purge the ballot boxes than the Voter Colonel.
Eight more days will tell the tale, on that score.
What’s next for conservatives are: FR, the Washington Times, and getliberty.org. It’s time to go to the mattresses.
We need a crop of new leaders and flushing of RINO’s.
Not in a swing state, I live in Virginia, but will vote first thing in the morn at 6:00am.
If McCain loses, what next for conservatives?
Re-education camps
Not for me, doubtful I’ll make it through the firefight, but will take many of THEM with me. Back to Alamo times.

...and I love ya for that!
I just don’t see how having pro-abortion, anti-gun, big government RINOs benefits our party.
It has destroyed it.
If you don’t agree with the party platform then you shouldn’t be allowed in. This is the only way to protect it.
LOL!! I need a graphic that I can put on a thread showing me punching them out! You post made my day — I burst out laughing!
But I don't care about protecting it.
In the context of party politics, I only care about winning elections.
Many conservatives will NEVER recognize Obama as the POTUS. America will be held hostage. New leadership will emerge and we will be way on our way to retaking the House in two years and dumping RINOS along the way. Sarah Palin will emerge as the next Maggie Thatcher and we will make this great country a democracy again.
Brave talk from a defeatist.
We'll be rounded up, herded into cattle cars, and taken to reeducation camps. Those of us who resist will be gassed and thrown in mass graves.
Okay.....
Forty years in the wilderness
If McCain loses, what next for conservatives?
How about 40 years in the desert.
