An Arkansas television anchorwoman died Saturday, several days after she didn't answer her wake-up call and was found beaten in her home, hospital officials said.
Anne Pressly, 26, died at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Margaret Preston said.

This was not done by a person.
This was done by an animal that now should be hunted and exterminated. Period.

The language was a little confusing. The wakeup call mentioned was the morning after the attack. Her attacker left her for dead, she was discovered by her mom who went to her house when she didn’t respond to the call that her mom made each morning.
The reason this case is of interest here is because some netroots have been circulating rumors that she was attacked by some “political fanatic” who didn’t like the fact that she’d been in Oliver Stone’s ‘W’.
From the reports I’ve seen, there was no sign of forced entry at her residence. So I suspect this murderer, like so many, will be someone known to the victim.
Mostly because we don’t know why she was murdered. Given that she is a reporter, and given that she is in Arkansas, and given that she’d appeared in a political ridicule film recently, some of us wonder about the back story.
Did this report die because she knew too much?
Was she on the verge of breaking a story?
Did she run afoul of the clintons and get Arkancided?
Did someone really really not like W? (the film, not the president)
Or was it merely an enraged boy or girl -friend?
It also has some proximity to us all. Pretty much everyone on this forum has been known to sleep in a bed...
Since you’ve been around a while, you’re aware that we’re often visited by trolls who post innocent-seeming, but provocative questions as part of their ‘fishing’ effort. The question bore a strong similarity in form to a typical troll question, so I’m not surprised it was perceived that way. Whether it was or wasn’t will obviously become clear in the ensuing conversation.
I agree, it’s a legit question, one I’ve wondered myself.
Of course it’s horrible that this woman was brutally murdered, but I too wonder why this particular case is getting so much attention here. I don’t have a problem with it at all but it does make me curious.

That happens often on FR since there is no Central Committee here that determines how many times an article can or cannot be posted.
The Mods simply ask that a search be done before posting and headlines not be changed to facilitate that search to avoid double or multiple postings.
This site is not simply a political site as you seem to think it is. It is a news site that is more or less run by us as we try to disseminate unfiltered news and information amongst our community here.
That's the logistical answer to your question.
As to why people here are interested in this story is because;
1. It was such a violent and hateful act by the perpetrator that the senselessness of it leaves many of the more compassionate souls here looking for information and hopefully, answers.
2. There are still a great many questions to be answered about this crime that people get interested and follow the news to get answers.
3. And despite your statements to the contrary, there is a political angle to this story. This woman had a small role in the recent film "W". She played what was believed to be a sort of Ann Coulter personality. Given the stories we hear daily about violence and other crap perpetrated by those with Bush Derangement Syndrome and others on the Left, one can easily wonder if the animal who murdered this woman had an axe to grind.

Part of it is proximity - as a face seen on the news every day a lot of people think they actually know her. That spikes the interest level all by itself.
Then there’s the Natalie Holloway effect, death and disappearance of attractive people automatically gets more coverage than when an ugly person dies.
Agreed. It's a part of the picture none-the-less.
I would tune out any reporter who decided to be in a movie like W.
