An Arkansas television anchorwoman died Saturday, several days after she didn't answer her wake-up call and was found beaten in her home, hospital officials said.
Anne Pressly, 26, died at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Margaret Preston said.

You’re new here, so let me explain:
1. Many stories about crime are posted here. This forum doesn’t cover only elections and politics, but articles about our culture and society. You’ll notice on the FR home page that there are many forums, including religion, for example, and many topics: Crime/corruption is one of them. http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm
2. Also, local stories are posted for different localities. If you check the top of the thread, you’ll notice keywords, and two of them are “Arkansas” and “Little Rock”. If you click on either one, you’ll come up with all other articles flagged for Arkansas and Little Rock, and you’ll see that other crime stories are posted, too. That’s because the people are interested in following cases that happen close to home.
3. Gun ownership rights is a major issue here, too, another reason you will find stories about crime along with discussions on the role of gun ownership in reducing crime.
Hope that helped.
I don’t feel very defensive. I just think it’s odd that you take time to complain that a particular thread exists.
I clicked on it because I had read or heard days ago that she had been attacked and hospitalized. I saw the headline that she had died, and I wondered if she had fingered her attacker or indicated what happened to her or why. (Obviously we know she was beaten etc., but I mean, what led up to that?)
I feel a great sympathy to women who live alone, because I think they are vulnerable. I wanted to find out what had happened since I last heard the story, I wanted to see if there was progress in finding the culprit(s), I wanted to know if there was a political angle (she’s a reporter, just appeared in “W” as Ann Coulter), and I always like to see if there is something I can learn to defend myself in a similar situation.
As for multiple posts on any given subject, they are common. When I post a thread, I always use the “search” feature and sometimes, even though I do, I end up posting a duplicate thread. Other FReepers have mentioned the same thing happening to them. Add to that FReepers who don’t search, or don’t search properly, or coincidentally search when others are searching, and you can see why there are many duplicate posts.
I believe that this is an unwarranted assumption on your part. It is more than sufficient that she is a minor celebrity and young and attractive. The slight connection to conservative politics (of which I was unaware) probably helps.
Very succinct.
According to her father, there was evidence that Pressly fought for her life.
The attacker focused on her head, breaking nearly every bone in her face. Because of this, the crime sounds like it could have been personal
Cannady, although content with the Little Rock Police Department’s investigation so far, said he is unconvinced by investigators’ treatment of the incident as a “random” robbery.
“It’s so hard to understand,” he said. “Why would anybody vandalize and brutalize somebody to this extent? There are items missing from the home. The severity of the injuries and brutality of the attack in my own mind calls into question the motive.”
“Someone who is struck multiple times tends to lend itself to someone who had an obsession with her or knew her, because it’s personal versus someone who was going to steal,” Garrett told “GMA.”
******
Pressly’s father, George G. Cannady, said his daughter’s ability to fight her attacker likely allowed her to survive the “unbelievably vicious attack.”
“Anyone who knows Anne knows she is a fighter,” Cannady said. “She fought for her life and in that respect she was successful.”
“But now the true fight begins,” Cannady said about his daughter’s recovery.
Clifton Johnson, a pulmonary and critical care specialist, said he and the team of doctors attending to Pressly are “guardedly optimistic” about her condition. Pressly sustained significant injuries that will require ongoing surgery, he said.
“She has a ways to go, but at this point it is a slow process,” to recovery, Johnson said. She has been responsive, he said.
you smell a troll because he/she
asked a question and signed up to FR today? Come on, freepers are better than that.
calling someone a POS because they asked a question and THEY are the ones who need to tossed? What a disgrace.
“Why are you personally interested in the story? You never answered that. No need to get defensive.”
What, are you a shrink? How about it’s none of your business as to why people are interested in any subject posted on an electronic news bulletin board. If you aren’t interested, stay off the thread(s). No one owes you the time of day, much less what is motivating their interest in any given topic. Methinks you are either a troll, or in the alternative, you are a little “off”. Whichever it is, buzz off. Take your psychoanalysis elsewhere.
Friend... Welcome to FreeRepublic...
Mods have a tough jobs... what they look for in posters is #1, conservative positions in most aspects... #2 is the ability to get along with others somewhat without needing a cleanup crew...
What that means is you give a little and you take a little in a thread ...and you sometimes gotta make the judgement call to just walk away. Those that can’t walk away, usually don’t last long here.
We see ya got spunk... you got a good fighting spirit... but do you know how to just walk away from a flame that goes nowhere. There is no shame in walking away here when the discussion is going nowhere.
That is my advice... take it not as a lecture, but as a welcome to FR from someone that had to learn the ropes also not too long ago.
She was a news anchorwoman. QED.
“ONe thing that is consistent on all internet forums is people like you obsessed with trolls and getting them banned. Its like some people have this fantasy of being an internet forum moderator and have this little power trip if the moderator is their puppet and bans people on their command.”
Hmmmm, sounds like you’ve visited quite a few internet forums and have had the same reaction. Sounds like this is a “thing” you like to do. Troll different forums and try to get a reaction, even a negative one. How many other sites have you been kicked off of? Hopefully the result will be the same on this one too. Or heckled off. Either will do.
