NRCC Changes Their Mind on Bachmann (The grassroots wins!)
Townhall.com ^ | October 24, 2008 | Amanda Carpenter

Remember how I told you last week the National Republican Congressional Committee was abandoning Michele Bachmann?

Well, the conservative blogosphere stood by her and now it seems the NRCC has changed its course! They are actually using HER to raise money now.

Via The Hill:

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is rallying around Rep. Michele Bachmann and using her controversial comments about Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to rally supporters. The committee on Thursday sent a fundraising e-mail critical of the media’s treatment of the Minnesota Republican, who suggested on MSNBC’s “Hardball” last week that Sen. Obama (D-Ill.) holds “anti-American” views....The NRCC sent a memo Thursday making the case that it was not abandoning candidates like Bachmann when it does not purchase ad time that it has reserved. I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you what I think happened here. I think the NRCC got scared when the liberal blogs went after Bachmann. Figured she could go it alone and then saw the conservative base rally around her. Then the NRCC though, aha! If people are giving HER checks maybe they'll give them to US instead. Hence their new fundraising push.

Moral of the story? Write the checks to the individual candidates you like. Not the party fundraising arm.

I second donating to the candidate not the NRCC where at least 50 cents on the dollar goes to fundraising costs.

Really? 50 cents on the dollar?

I’m stunned, I guess it is direct donations for me now.

Some fundraisers charge more then that. I wouldn’t have known if I had not been involved in fundraising here in OK for one of the Presidential candidates. He wouldn’t pay the going rate, so our fundraiser here cut her rate. That’s when I learned what fundraisers that work for NRCC and NRSC make — I was appalled.

Her comments were right on the money. Why would the RNC punish their own for telling the truth? are they as goofy as McCain? not wanting to appear to maybe, possibly, kinda sorta say something negative to the Obamaenemy? get a grip! good to see they saw the error of their ways. I can relax now.

I just sent her a hundred. I’d rather spend it now on conservatives than have it confiscated by marxists. :-}

I want the people at the head of the NRCC fired. Idiots.

And I’m sending Bachmann a check with a slight note. Never apologize when right.

Good point...At last report, the NRCC has about $77 million on hand vs the DNCC’s $24 million (Obama has the rest of the money) so you would think the NRCC would be backing all the Republican candidates with ads and air time...But if they don’t help the candidates, how can they expect to raise funds ?...Sometimes i wonder about the Party..is it Party time, or party time ?....

Good news! But.... I’m not impressed with the NRCC. AT ALL!

They cut out on her, then sent out an email saying “PLEASE SUPPORT MICHELLE BACHMANN”

DOH! They just proved they don’t have ANY principle (although this time it happened to go in a direction I support), they just go where the wind blows that day.

So right. I refuse to contribute to the NRCC. Wish I could contribute to Sarah Palin, but I have contributed to Palin/McCain. I want Sarah Palin to do a 1/2 hour spot like Obama is going to do. I want it after his and before the election, but with not any time for him to do a rebuttal :)
