Glad you’re back and settled in.

Yup! Still stuck in People’s Republic of Maryland. My husband and I are thinking of maybe going to NC one day. Looking at different places to retire. Did your dad find his total tax liability less in NC? I heard adding all of NC’s taxes together made it a less tax friendly state.

Beachy, he absolutely loves it, NC doesn’t tax his retirement check (a big decision-maker), unlike MD, plus the property taxes were much less (mostly since the house is valued lower than it was in PG County). In MD he had a 1/3 acre lot, four bedroom Colonial with a two-car carport (not a garage) that he sold for 425k, and bought a 2-acre lot 3-bedroom with four (yes, 4) garages (two attached, two detached) for his and hers motorcycles. He paid something in the 300s for it.
