Democrats do this all the time- they threaten certain industries (oil, defense) etc with windfall taxes and wouldn't you know it, not only do contributions from these industries to them go up- but they change the behavior of these companies (ie oil and gas becoming more "green" etc).

Media and Entertainment companies in a way bank on GOP stupidity in this regard.

Whereas they know that when the GOP takes over they don't have to worry about us raising taxes on them, so why even bother being fair, when their natural instinct is to support the Democrats quite openly (and with nothing to fear from the GOP, why not?).

Yeah, why can’t there be a windfall tax on a studio that puts out one of those box office hits? Have you seen the price of movie tickets these days? Should it be fair that a movie that costs $10 mil to make grosses $100 mil (#s completely out of thin air)? I mean, it’s not like studios don’t spend $10 mil or so on other movies that are box office disasters and have to cover those losses with the one smash hit they produce.

Anyways, good idea. We know the flaw in logic, but it’s an excellent way to call out the left and their tools in Hollywood on it.

I think there has to be a profit before you can exercise a windfall profits tax.

You want to fight back? Then turn off the TV, cancel the subscriptions, boycott advertisers.

But understand that a free press is one of our greatest treasures. You’ll recognize that if Obama gets in office and the worm turns.

Literally.

We’re in a time of transition, old media to new media. Ain’t nothing much freer right now than Free Republic. You’re upset about old media, but you’re using new media, whose influence continues to grow.

Relax about it.

I think you are on to something here. I f the democrats win, our taxes are going up, that’s a given. What we need to do is to insist that democrat favored entities face higher taxation as well. Any democrat leaning economic segment should be taxed to compensate for their deleterious effects on society.
Such as, the entertainment industries for the social rot they cause. They produce nothing that society can’t do without, and they take money mostly from those who can least afford it. Next would be the legal profession. The legal beagles should be taxed to compensate for all the problems they cause the medical industry.

Other industries to follow!

To me, the MSM fall under the same catergory as the WWE, info-mercials, and daytime drama. All flash and sound bites, no substance. A bunch of drama queens that are trying to convince you idiot masses that you just don’t get it, and eventually you will come around to see things their way. They’re line of thinking is “ we know what’s best for you, because we have a degree in journalism, so just shut up serfs and take what we say at face value”. This mentality as I see it pi$$es me off to no end.
