A relative says that Barack Obama's 85-year-old grandmother broke her hip recently and is gravely ill.
Obama's great-uncle, Charles Payne, tells The Associated Press that his sister, Madelyn Payne Dunham, hasn't been well for a long time, and that she fell and broke her hip recently. Payne spoke with The Associated Press in a brief telephone interview Tuesday from his home in Chicago.

At what point was it decided that now was the time to visit her?

The only reason he’s “suspending” his campaign is so they can gin up another “real” birth certificate while in Hawaii.

This is an obvious ploy to distract from the coming onslaught of Rev. Wright ads by wrapping himself in whiteness.
I sincerely pray for her Grandma. That said, Obama might use this as a distraction from Biden’s recent “international crisis” gaffe. Sarah is going for the throat on him. Obama is just taking a timeout to stop the momentum of McCain/Palin. This is a strategy all the sports teams use. I’m sure he will plot a new strategy and come back. BTW, Biden is grounded. No appearance for him today. Strange. We need Biden to win this election. Joe the Gaffer that keeps on giving.

t’s grandmother (and grandfather) raised him when his parents deserted him. I have respect for them. I hope it does right by his grandmom... She deserves better than she has gotten from him. I hope she recovers if possible, and if not does not suffer. God Bless Her.

I did find a reference to a second visit, but there were no details or pictures. Do you have a link with pictures?
Again, I hate it that I've become such a skeptic, but years of watching politics have taught me that nothing happens in that world by accident.
I don't think a Obama/Biden win is unavoidable, but if we do manage to skate by on this one we've sure got to get down to work on figuring out how to re-educate a lot of America on what our country has always been and what it takes to keep it that way. This has been way too close for comfort for me, and I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet.
I’m sorry, I don’t remember where I saw it. It just showed a bunch of pictures of him and his kids, and some of them were of them arriving at his grandmother’s apartment building. If I have time, I’ll look for them later.
The link in the thread entitled “Glimmer of Obama’s Character as He Visits Grandma” has a reference to him and and his wife and kids visiting the grandmother when they were there in August. No pictures though.
I would much rather see Granny in the Lincoln bedroom that any of the scum that Barry hands around with or does business with!
