Biden: Expect Obama's inexperience to be tested by our enemies.

I was under the impression that Biden's job was to reassure American voters to go with the exceptionally inexperienced natsec pick. Not to let them know that he was going to not only be tested right off the bat, but that he would probably flunk:

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions.

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

See AoSHQ and Hot Air for more. The former is wincing at the idea of Joe Biden - a man who is always ready to tell you how smart he is, and if that doesn't alarm you, nothing will - being the backup for Obama in a hypothetical crisis like this; the latter is helpfully reminding us that Kennedy's own test of foreign was an "unmitigated disaster" that nearly ended up destroying Eurasia.

My own worries are slightly different. We can probably survive losing a diplomatic confrontation with Iran (unless they decide to do something stupid, like try to nuke Israel: then we won't have to lose it): and our response to an invasion of South Korea by North Korea will at least have the virtue of simplicity. But if China decides to force a confrontation over Taiwan... well, if Obama wins then I recommend that the Taiwanese that aren't ready to make nice with the PRC start acquiring passports ahead of time. Likewise, if the Pakistanis conclude that now is a good time to push India over Kashmir, sorry, guys: we had a change in administrations, and the new one isn't particularly interested in maintaining good relationships with the world's largest democracy. Then there's the dark horse of Venezuela: I suspect that Chavez would dearly love to push around Uncle Sam a bit, and the potential there for a blindsiding of a hypothetical Obama administration is just too great to ignore.

And note: all of this assumes that the test will be essentially diplomatic in tone. Instead of, say, an anthrax attack on San Diego, or a radiological bomb set off in Jacksonville, or even a series of coordinated ground-level terrorist attacks in ten or twelve suburban locations. I am even less confident in the Democrats' ability to produce an effective and measured response to renewed assaults on American citizens than I am in their ability to counter the diplomatic moves of regimes that don't care if we like them or not. Given that I have zero confidence for them in that, I sympathize if that admission alarms you. It alarms me, too.

Speculation,

Bidet is saying that Obammy will react to a war between Israel and Iran by DOING NOTHING. IOW, he will allow Israel to be destroyed. That will be unpopular (as he said).

At that time I hope the US military takes over! Obammy and Bidet are DANGEROUS!

The terrorists are waiting and hoping that McCain is defeated by Obama. The DemoSocialists are either ignorant of the threat, or they are liars. Obama has zero military experience and zero experience with national security. He will undermine our security, if he’s given the chance.

I think Biden is deliberately trying to throw this election. He has made the best argument for a McCain presidency:

If Obama is elected, our enemies will undoubtedly try to test him.

If McCain is elected, our enemies will know better than to try.

The Soviets, err I mean... Russians will NOT respect Obama on anything.

They all know how weak, naive and stupid Obama is when it comes to virtually all topics.

Obama is especially pathetic when it comes to dealing with monsters like Putin, Ahdmeninjad, Kim Jung Il, Mugabe, Chavez, Castro as well as the world's islamic terrorist organizations like Ansar Al-Islam, Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda.

They all know what a loser he is, which is precisely why they will walk all over his face.

Let’s hope that Obama is never tested. He would fail.

“That last sentence bothers me. What are the “unpopular decisions” that will be made? What rights will be suspended? What freedom will we be required to “give up for the greater good”. What are the sacrifices, that the ONE has already stated, will have to be made?”

That’s the part that creeps me out the most too - we’re supposed to just TRUST them??!!! What have they done to earn that?

It's not boring at all. it is something that requires some digestion. we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

I believe Biden may be privy to info of a complete capitulation in the event of an attack.

“I believe Biden may be privy to info of a complete capitulation in the event of an attack.”

Or a complete “suspension” of our rights and our freedom.

This is very scary.

I think it could be different than most of you think.

My speculation: Either we must attack Iran or be drawn in when Israel attacks Iran. Biden may have gotten a glimpse of the plans already underway. Biden’s reference to half of Obama’s supporters being upset with him may be the anti-war crowd.

Obama and Biden may know what has to be done. Biden is just too stupid to keep his mouth shut.

“Listen..if we get Obama we will deal..it wont be pretty but we will survive.”

Very true. Yes, we will be humiliated overseas and our economy will tank deeply, but truly we will survive obama.

I don’t know the ages of any of the rest of you, but I served in the military during the very dark years of Carter. That feckless SOB relented in the face of the Soviets at every turn and left us in a state of military inferiority vs. them.

Economically, Carter’s tax policies (very much like Obama’s) ran us to double-digits for inflation, unemployment and interest rates.

IF obama wins on Nov 4, we should protect ourselves by being smart financially, because it will be at least four years of difficulty. Meanwhile, the Dems have to defend the large majority of the Senate seats in 2010, so we can begin our comeback then.

And keep in mind — our next Reagan is already on the horizon.

As abhorrent as it is to have to deal with a (shudder) President Obama, sometimes it’s good to cast off the demons within our own party, while the Dems over-reach in Congress and try to pull the country too far leftward. As for the Supreme Court, the only likely retirements would be Ginsburg and Stevens. You could put two judges from the 9th Circuit in there to replace them and see no difference.

Again, the Dems will not be able to resist over-reaching. They’ll of course fail, causing a major backlash. We’re having a tough time now, but we will be back.

We’re America. In the long run, we’re gonna be OK.

... he may have given this forethought

It doesn't matter if he gave it forethought or not.

The thought went through Biden's head, and in sufficient detail that it took three, well thought out paragraphs, to express it.
