Teachers Improperly Using Enrollment Lists to Make Pro-Obama Calls?
Aos ^ | 10/19/08 | Ace

If this report is accurate, it seems pretty likely.

Our phone rang a little before 9PM last night and the caller, a woman with a very pleasant voice, asked to speak with either one of two of my two older (adult) children, whom she asked for by first name. I asked who was calling and she gave her name, which matched the caller ID, and said she was a teacher in the area and was calling on behalf of the Obama campaign, along with some of her colleagues.

...

After I hung up, I thought how odd it was that she called and specifically asked to speak to two of the "kids" in the house and not to my wife or me. Then it dawned on me...where might a group of local teachers get a list of young adults of voting age, along with their phone numbers? School records. Possibly older ones, because my youngest is also now old enough and registered to vote.

He also wants to do away with secret ballots when they vote.

Contact the school and your local Republican headquarters.
This is OBSCENE!

JaneNC: “I feel like we live in a communist country.”

I know exactly how you feel. We aren’t there yet, but we are closer than we’ve ever been in my life. You know, all I really want is to be left alone. I don’t want the government’s help. I just want them to do the work they are established to do.

The problem is, Barry O and his band of merry commies aren’t content to leave us alone. Our participation ($$$) will be required, and they will use the Fairness Doctrine, hate crime laws, FBI investigations, and IRS audits to eliminate dissent.

Teacher's Union.

Another similar story, and there are lots.

Delegate Jeffrey M. Frederick, Prince William Republican and chairman of the state party, said: "It is an outrageous breach of public trust and an abuse of taxpayer resources that teachers chose to use school grounds as a political base."

Mr. Frederick said the words "you teach some of them" suggest that the e-mail was meant to encourage teachers to recruit their students, not just ordinary residents, into the Obama camp.

The NEA voted in June to endorse Mr. Obama. The recommendation is based solely on a candidate's position on education-related issues, Kitty Boitnott said.

"This e-mail (in this case) was in the spirit of that recommendation, to give resources and advice to those VEA members who are already energized about the Obama campaign," she said. "We do not advise that any teacher actively recruit a student to any particular political campaign during school hours."

"That is patently wrong and it should be illegal if it not already is," he said.

Washington Times

But they did not say, teachers could not recruit "ordinary residents" after school hours or off campus. Pull out the old year books. Guess you have to decipher the meaning of "ordinary residents".

I would also be in touch with the local school board. Let them know that you aren’t happy and that you will be taking action against them. Maybe you could speak with a lawyer who would take the case pro bono - just for fun!

ask her for what local group she was making the calls

When I'm making call for the REP HQ in my area I always introduce myself and say I'm calling from the _____ County REP HQ in _____________, NV. I would hate to get some poor man in trouble with his wife over a phone call. If asked where the number came from we tell them. Simple as pie.

You should follow up on this. If teachers are using school records to make calls for the Obama campaign then it seems to me this is illegal.
