Three points about this:
1. Is Powell going to profit (vis-a-vie) Ifill's book?
2. Who has more stature - a sitting US Senator (J. Lieberman) or a retired AA general/SOS suporting the candidate of the opposing party for president?
3. Is there any differnce between Colin Powell and Wesley Clark?
I remember when GW was picking his team and the press was all over him about his inexperience.
And when he picked Cheney - there was a sense of relief that at least there was an “adult” looking over things.
I wonder if Powell is aiming for that sort of thing - trying to be seen as the “adult” in an Obama administration that is supposed to put jittery nerves at ease.
My Mom (who told me at a young age, “Vote anyway you want, as long as it’s Republican.”) called me about this. Among her points: if Rice wasn’t the sitting SOS, she’d back the Messiah as well.
I think this WILL backfire on the Dems, and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on one’s view) this now drops any pretense about Osama - it’s now a white/black capitalist/communist election, pure and simple. And they are only 13% of the population. I hope that real Americans realize this.
Maybe Ayer’s wife’s support of Charles Manson is coming true - Helter Skelter.
Agree. That showed a total lack of character.
Lord, have mercy on us.
I don’t know just whom the MSM thinks will be influenced by this endorsement.
But the message from the fawning MSM seems to be that it’s OK to make a racially-based decision, contrary to the way they’ve been trying to guilt everybody. It’s OK for blacks to vote for a black because he’s black, and it’s OK for whites to do the same. And it’s REALLY OK to cross your party line to vote your race.
