They are all going to contract to local news and ads only. Like small broadsheets. Free most likely, no news staff except local and police blotter. It’s happening around our area already.
Die weasels die.

The Tribune doesn’t need to hire AP’s Liars when it has plenty of their own on staff.
If was the Tribune which sued to have Obama’s Senatorial opponent, Jack Ryan, divorce records unsealed allowing Zero to waltz to the Senate.

Little do they realize that if they want to, they can set up their own wire service overnight, and for very little money. Just a password protected blog, and invite a select group of other newspapers and media to join it for free.
They can even use a swap ratio: if you take news, post news. Those with too high a ratio can pay some bucks to help host the website, a tiny amount compared to a typical wire service subscription.
As long as they are reasonably credible, all kinds of news and information groups can be invited in, giving a much broader scope to the news.

The drop is 2 years out. This is just the opening salvo in a negotiating process. As a big $$ customer AP will respond and the two will work out a pricing model somewhere between APs dreams right now and the AP being dropped.
