Conversations with an internal pollster for Obama...
Redsate ^ | 15 Oct 2008 | David Rasbold

I have an interesting story to relay that took place earlier this week between my boss (a senior VP in the company I work for) and one of the Obama campaigns' internal pollsters.

Just to note, my boss is a republican and was meeting the Obama rep over lunch for other reasons. Politics obviously came up due to his line of work.

He asked my boss what her political leanings were and they did some chit chat around the issues and the impressions each had on the state of the race. What happened next was more than fascinating and should be a reminder to all of us to buck up and remain strong. All is not lost. In fact, we may be in a much better spot than we think - despite the national polls and what the daily media drumbeat to give up.

He asked my boss what she thought about Sarah Palin. While my boss is a republican she hasn't been nearly as enamored with her as most of our base. She noted concern about Sarah's experience, but said that she is still voting for McCain.

As she was explaining her perspective it dawned on her to ask why he (the Obama internal pollster) was interested in her view of Palin. He replied that Obama's campaign is extremely nervous about the energized republican base and what he called the "unkown factor" regarding Palin's draw as a candidate.

In the polls they're conducting around the country, and my boss wasn't able to relay specific numbers, the Obama campaign is very, very worried about how Palin appears to be energizing whole groups of people who don't typically get energized about politics, precisely because she appeals so strongly to the middle class, as well as women and dissatisfied republicans that stayed home in 2006.

More than that, they don't know how to guage and predict the support of people typically turned off by politics, but that are enamored with her "up from the bootstraps" appeal.

IMHO, not much difference between Laura Ingraham and Maureen Dowd.

Bitter old maids.

Go ahead and flame away, but that’s the way I see it.

Recently I got a email from my aunt who is a lifelong Democrat. This is what she said about Sarah:

“I like Sarah Palin too...enjoyed the vp debates. I really feel that she speaks as one of the people and would love to have her and more people like her in Washington. She sounds like me and my friends when we discuss politics (a little) socially ...laugh. So, I may have to join you guys for a conservative Republican vote this year. I really like to see more women in power.”

Sarah has certainly energized me. I want her as Vice President, and then I want her as President.

Guys, you have to ignore the polls, they are OFF, and OFF BIG TIME! They are to the point of absolute absurdity. I know its hard, when you have nearly every media outlet telling you its over and Fauxbama is going to win it, day in and day out.. but its just not true.

You know, if McCain wins, all the DUmmies are going to cry foul because all the polls showed the Obamessiah in the lead all over the country... yada yada yada. McCain would be lucky to be sworn in on time due to all the litigation they're going to bring to bear.

I can’t honestly see how anyone who’s on the ground and PA, and has been here through a few presidential election cycles can remotely belive Fauxbama is going to carry PA. His support is so below what any candidate in recent memory has had. He’s nowhere near Kerry’s level and Kerry just barely held on to the state with 2.5% of the vote and 140kish votes.

Its blindingly obvious that Fauxbama is losing PA.

I hope you are right. But Obama has enough money to flood the market with ads selling his fictional biography. Any comparisons with 2004 suffer from the lack of anything like the financial flood of the last week. If Iraq in 2004 had looked like Iraq in 2006, W would have been gone as surely as Carter in 1980.

"Obama's campaign is extremely nervous about the energized republican base and what he called the "unkown factor" regarding Palin's draw as a candidate."

I have been saying this for a couple days now. Sarah has really engaged a lot of probable dormant GOP voters that McCain does not engage. There may be a huge surprise on November 4, including down ticket elections....

I said, "I suppose you really believe that your wonder boy is going to fix everything?....Now GET OFF MY PROPERTY ya friggin' 'RAT!"

I had a visit during a rainstorm by an Obama worker..I opened the door, he mentioned Obama, I interrupted with, "I wouldn't give you five cents for Obama"! He turned around and went back into the rain...later, I wished I had asked if he were from ACORN.

When McCain/Palin win, the Moron Media will be thunderstruck. We will rejoice in the destruction of both the Soros Left and the Media Tools.

I'm looking forward to election night when Chrissy Matthews will have something running DOWN his leg instead of the Obama "tingle" running up his leg! Fifty bucks says he cries on camera!

He’s having his buttplugs rotated.

I meant hairplugs.

Take your pick.

His hairplugs come from the dark brown area of his rear.

Thanks to Palin, we will NOT have the apathy that plagued us in ‘06. The dynamic is completely different.

That is one reason. The other reason is that I wager most of us are scared ****less of what the Messiah in the WH plus a Rat Congress would do to this country.
