STATEMENT FROM MCCAIN-PALIN SPOKESWOMAN MEG STAPLETON
Friday, October 10, 2008
ARLINGTON, VA McCain-Palin 2008 spokeswoman Meg Stapleton issued the following statement on todays release of Stephen Branchflowers report:
Todays report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates what weve known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country.

Oh, and if you just betting $5 McCain will dump Palin, Hell yes, I’ll take that bet. He won’t do it.
If you’re so damned sure, make it $500. Wimp.
No, silly. I bet he’ll dump Sarah over this, then lose by a whole lot.
Thanks Didi!
From the document...
Finding #2
” Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch
department heads. “
Any thing after that is a NON ISSUE! and only the DEM’s desire to try to make something of it is why it is in the news at all!
MOOSE FODDER!
The Abuse of Power violation was for a matter different from the firing of Commissioner Monegan (for which she was “within her rights”).
How about running to win, and then stepping down before the EC vote? Then he gets to keep his Senate seat and we get a REAL HONEST reformer in the White House.
This is a last chance power try by some yokels. Soon there will be deep background checks on all involved. That will be fun to watch. Do these idiots think Mac is without serious friends ?
:^)
I agree. Get Sarah out there to make her own statement on this rather than sending out some flunkie. It’ll nip the whole thing in the bud and instantly become yesterday’s news.
For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides
The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.
Finding Number Two
I find that, although Walt Monegans refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palins firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.
Finding Number Three
Harbor Adjustment Service of Anchorage, and its owner Ms. Murleen Wilkes, handled Trooper Michael Wooten's workers compensation claim property and in the normal course of business like any other claim processed by Harbor Adjustment Service and Ms. Wilkes. Further, Trooper Wooten received all the workers compensation benefits to which he was entitled.
Finding Number Four
The Attorney General’s office has failed to substantially comply with my August 6, 2008 written request to Governor Sarah Palin for infomration about the case in the form of emails.

Here is the article from the WSJ:(notice the last sentence below emphasis added)
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin violated ethics rules by trying to remove her former brother in law from his job as a state trooper, a highly-anticipated legislative report into the matter has concluded. But she didn't break any laws in firing her public safety commissioner, who said he had been pressured to fire the trooper, the report found.
The inquiry, approved by a legislative committee's bipartisan vote, began The report by investigator Stephen Branchflower was released late today in Anchorage by the state legislative panel that commissioned it. The bi-partisan panel voted 12-0 to release the findings to the public. Legislators said they would have to consider later what, if anything, to do now.

I agree she is here to stay. Unfortunately. It’s too late to do anything about it. She is an embarassment (has been since her selection) and we will look back on her as an inexplicable blip on the historical radar. She will return to Alaska, maybe win another term as governor, and we will here from her no more on the national scene. When we look back on the other options McCain had for his VP pick, it’s a shame the opportunity was wasted.
You want to bet that McCain will dump Palin, is that correct?
Colmes is a direct tool of Beezlebub. He even looks like him. He is just as crafty and cunning, evil and mentally grotesque as the prince of darkness. I don't know how he stays alive as there must be nothing but decaying rot and slime inside his ugly shell.

Big talk. Big guy. Take it or leave it, chump. Nobody gets to try to break the bank. I already said I’m not hanging my ass out for John McCain’s whim.
10,000, I’m good for 10,000. I might have to sell some pinball machines but put me down for 10,000.
I hope you’ve paid all of your bills for the month. ;o)
What in the world ?
Sarah saved the Republican party and brought us together at a very dark time. She is the reason McCain is even within striking distance.
Sarah is great.
