Maybe — but enough to swing a Presidential election, probably not. My problem with this whole ACORN thing coming out of the McCain campaign is -

1. It reeks of desperation. If this isn’t new, why are they bringing it up now. Why not in August or July, when it could have gotten more traction? Well ... maybe because it’s a bogus argument. I’m a Freeper and I’m skeptical - what can we expect of the electorate.

2. It looks like an attempt to deligitimize Obama’s victory (if it comes to that). That seems a little unAmerican to me. If he wins, we accept it and move on. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I think our political system needs cohesion. Nixon didn’t contest the 1960 election and that one was closer than the 2008 appears to be.

I think McCain didn’t bring it up earlier because it actually would have looked unfair and desperate at that time, and in addition, the full scope wasn’t known. Granted, all Freepers knew what was going on, but there’s a gap between that and legal proof.

The delegitimization is being done by Obama. This is all setting the stage for neutralizing his loss. Odinga, coached by Obama and Ayers, did exactly the same thing in Kenya and ended up as “co-president” with the candidate who actually won the election. All this after a number of riots and horrendous slaughters of his opponent’s party members, of course.

Nixon’s election was almost 50 years ago, and the Dems have changed a lot since then. You’re quite naive if you think this is the same old Dem party of yore.

It is not “Un-American” to participate in Federal Investigations for a while if there is such wide spread corruption in the system. Perhaps they didn’t have proof. There is a chance that the rumor about Obama’s buddy Rezko is true — he could be singing like a canary, so to speak, right now. His sentencing has been delayed and I read on another thread that there is a rumor he is speaking to federal authorities in a sentencing arrangement of some sort. It would seem that either those in charge didn’t realize how bad the problem was, didn’t believe the charges, and thought 3rd parties and such were making it up, or those in charge didn’t care, and those who cared couldn’t stop it at that point. And now, it would appear that they are at least trying to stop him.

There is a good chance that the FBI has solid evidence that ACORN and Obama are linked right now, and he may be indicted. There are many threads here that explain the entire connection.

If it was part of an effort to delegitimize the guy it wouldn't be carried out exclusively by registered Democrats and fans of Obama. If Obama's opponents were delegitimizing him his opponents would be the ones getting caught in the act, not his closest allies.

There's reason this comes up NOW is because the fake registrations have just started pouring into county offices right before the final deadlines. If you are trying to pump thousands of bogus registrations into the mix you don't have them just trickle in where they might be caught easier, you dump them all at once as close to the deadline as you can get in order to bury the county election registrars' staffs in so much work they can't spare the time to closely inspect the applications and they give up and just accept them and issue cards to the addresses. Sometimes temps are hired just prior to the election to help with the load, so more inexperienced staff will be handling the registrations the close you get to d day, meaning fewer opportunities for each staffer to notice that more than one appication in a stack has the same handwriting, ink color, names, addresses, etc.

The deadlines are mostly up, the registrars have received the load, and the alert ones that are doing their jobs are now spotting fakes, and so it's now news.

The problem is, much of the fraud is going to slip right on by anyway. While an address given by a voter might be spotted as fake in a rural county because the registrar may personally know who really owns and rents the property, in urban areas it's just not going to get noticed because in cities there are just too many people, people move too much and registars just can't know all their "neighbors" or know all the truly vacant addresses.

You either are a mole or a fool. In either case, everyone should disregard what you say. If the Liberal Messiah steals this election, revolution or a military coup should immediately follow.
