Can we just knock it off with all the doom-and-gloom in this place???
I swear I'm gonna bite my hand (or something else) if I see one more post about hoarding food and stocking on ammo.
It's not the end of the world. Jesus is not coming yet. No Armageddon yet.
It's just the market's response to years of greed, laxity, crookedness and all-around incompetence.
Granted, times are tough, and livelihoods are on the balance, but we need to hang tough and ride the storm.
I come from a place in which a decade ago the banking system actually seized up, and learned the lesson of living within one's means, with little or no debt.
The American people in general will have once again to live according to income, and not try to pimp our lives by incurring in unnecessary debt.
And for those who already see themselves in the "USSA" under Premier O'bama, what little faith and courage.
Instead of bitching about how you will go underground, or flee to Costa Rica, or prepare to live under Dear Comrade Barack, WORK TO GET JOHN MCCAIN ELECTED!!!
Phone bank. Volunteer. Knock on doors. Get out the vote (yes, conservatives should do this, too!!!). BE PROACTIVE!!!
Then, maybe we can control our national destiny for once, and not let ourselves be imposed a false messiah by the MSM.
And speaking of the MSM... STOP PAYING SO MUCH ATTENTION TO IT!!!
Watch a movie, the Discovery Channel, or even better, have dinner at the dinner table, talk to your spouses, your children, your parents, read a book, surf websites other than news ones. Don't let yourselves be led by trends, bias, spin or lies. Be steadfast on your viewpoints.
And for those who say that the country will go to hell if Bar-Ack O'Bama is elected???
If this country survived 8 years of Bubba, it can survive 4 to 8 years of That One.

Don’t you just feel that circumstances are conspiring together to install this man as the most powerful man in the world? Can’t you see how deluded the public is? Denial doesn’t help anyone.
Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. Keep fighting. Never give up, and never give in. This has always been our problem, we chose to give up, and give in, so we wouldn’t lose our jobs or our money to lawsuits. Well, our money and our jobs are gone inspite of trying to save them! So, now what?
The Bible says, “If any man try to save his life, he will lose it.”....we liked a lifestyle more than life, and now we may lose it all.
Ya sure? That is one of the things that I do not fear.
There's probably just as many posts saying "all is well", well, not to worry Sorry all is not well. I'm not saying it's the end of the world (it's not) but posts saying it's just a natural cycle is of little comfort to those who are losing a LOT in this market. I know of several people who's 401K have dropped dramatically.

there was a time not too long ago when nobody had 401k’s. Only very rich people were able to own a diversified portfolio and they did it with several dozen individual stocks through a high priced, full service broker.
We’ll have to live with a lot less but we won’t be going back to the stone age.
I would love to believe that all is well and am purposely keeping an optimistic attitude. That being said, I transferred a lot of my investments into money market funds, temporarily, when I saw how much I had lost in less than two weeks time. I will be storing up enough groceries and supplies to last us at least a month if the civil unrest that Obama’s candidacy has been fomenting becomes a reality. We have a couple of guns and ammo but will be buying something smaller for me to use.
I’m 48 years old and have never known anything but the security that my country has provided me. If times have changed, as it appears they have, I don’t want to be the ostrich with its’ head in the sand. I’d rather have a freezer full of ostrich meat and be ready for good or bad times, whatever comes.
Ignore the whinoCons. There is always a mindset that looks for the worst case scenario and sucks on it like a vampire on blood. This is the same mindset that complained about Reagan.

2) Hillary and Bill don’t want Obama to win, since she wants to run again in 2012
3) “Hussein” being Obama’s middle name is still news to most people.
4) A picture of Obama dressed as a Muslim (there are at least three) is still worth 1000 words (3000 in this case). Man your email station! Post bills!

13) McCain has not yet played either the Jeremiah Wright card nor the Tony Rezko card!
14) Plenty of white Democratic voters are unimpressed with Obama, and will not vote for him. Democrats can’t energize their base!

16) The Christian base that re-elected Bush in 2004, knows Sarah is more than a Sunday Christian, and is praying for her.
17) McCain opened 50 offices in California. It’s in play!
18) Google “Bradley Effect”. Obama is getting poll votes he’ll never get on election day.
19) Operation Chaos resulted in an overlarge quantity of Democrat registrations that will never ever vote Democratic.
20) Polls are meant by the liberal media, to SHAPE public opinion, not report it.

Thank you. When my husband, who has been in the foreign stock exchange business for 20+ years, begins to panic, then I will. And so far, not a lot of reason to do so. I think it’s a great time for the monies I’m putting into my 401k to purchase even more. Of course I’m fortunate in that I have control over the allocation percentages and can move more into what I consider “safer, less risky” areas.
