PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

Hey Radix...haven’t seen you in a while. ;-)

I was talking about McCain winning. And I think he did.
He’s not a firey go-getter like Sarah. But he held his own and did answer the questions............zero didn’t.

But McCain chose Sarah like you choose a fine wine!
Smooth, smells sweet but a little tart, and hits the spot!!! ;-))) Made a good decision too! ;-)

Hey...good to see you! ;-)

again Obama is allowed to give the script to his little story about being a poor boy from a humble background. McCain should have countered “ You mean the ‘scholarship’ in the form of
full financial backing from a Saudi Prince ,at the behest of a Black Panther Party associated american moslem radical ?”

My wife was livid to hear McCain say he will let people renegotiate the price of their homes.

I hear ya, but this is already well underway. Buried in the "Rescue" Bill was provision to allow " Principal Write- downs". In fact it went on and said there were no limitations as what the feds could do to the loan to insure that foreclosure does not occur.

McCain is not speaking to the base here. He's trying to get the populous undecided vote.

Why not? Reagan did with Jimmy Carter. Everybody says wait until some other time. No The time to skewer the ObamacRat and the Liberal-nazi agenda is Now. McCain, you better turn into a Patton. You better fight for your country now and don't stop until the election's over. Go through the Obamacrat's like sh-t through a goose. Hold him by the nose and kick him in the arse. Senator McCain, if you've ever fought for America, do it now and don't let up!

Yeah, what he said... oh yeah, and listen your running mate and TAKE OFF THE GLOVES!!

ON ELECTION DAY THE OLDSTERS WILL VOTE

I pray that James Carville's axiom about depending on young voters is the surest way to lose holds true.

“Nonsense. A debate does not a president make. McCain just didn’t overwhelm in the debate, but lose the White House because of it...Naw.”

But John McCain kept saying, “America is the greatest force for good on the planet” and how the American workforce and ingenuity can solve our problems (which I agree with!).

Excellent points :)

Yeah, and that means Hussein wins, because McCain needed a game changer and he did nothing. Let Obama lie his ass off and didn't challenge him or call him on just about any of it. Mealy mouthed. Rambling. Tired. "My friend". "Earmarks".

I'm apoplectic...

I agree. I thought McCain seemed a bit tired. He had the substance, but his style was lacking. This might be his favorite venue, but I thought he did better in the last debate. Glad Sarah has his back.

The odd thing is Luntz said McCain won on the economy according to his group, yet lost overall. Well..um....isn’t the economy the most important issue according to the polls?
Also, does that mean Obama kicked ass at foreign policy near the end of the debate?
lol
DUMB ...or as someone else pointed out, they didn’t want to be seen as going against Obama.

McCain was the clear winner. He was relaxed and connected more with the audience. In particular, near the end when he thanked the Navy vet and actually shook his hand, something that Obambi wouldn't have dared to do if he'd had the question first.

Barry was his typical arrogant self, he seemed more tense and argumentative, and just didn't come across as a "likable Messiah". He's just a slightly more articulate Jean-Francois Kerree, without the advantage of Heinz in Pennsylvania.

Patience, forget the spin and those special-bullbleep-sauce polls, and onward to victory. Who can trust a neophyte in times like these? In the end, people will make the right choice.
