The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 52% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%. This is the highest level of support ever recorded for Obama and is his largest lead of the year. It also continues a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat’s support has never declined by even a single point. The Democratic candidate has gained six full percentage points of support since Lehman Brothers collapsed to start the Wall Street mess ...

Polls are banned around the world before an election for this reason .
Polling is used to SWAY voters and to cause a HERD IMPACT.

Guess voting for the bailout wasn’t good strategy.

The polling little to do with Obama vs McCain...

POLLING = ECONOMY
BAD ECONOMY = PLUS FOR DEMOCRATS
BAD ECONOMY = MINUS FOR REPUBLICANS

If not for the Wall Street crisis, McCain would be even at this point IMHO...magritte

Chimera.

FDR was the VP on the Dem’s losing ticket in 1920, that got blown out by Harding.

Not at all what I said...I said she needs to get to smaller towns to keep up the fight and McCain needs to start getting some sound bites...The press will follow Sarah wherever...she is excellent in this setting in small town America...lots of small towns where help is needed. McCain needs to be more visible and get back in the news....Sarah will stay in the news right up to election day...no need to worry about her visibility

I tend to doubt what you’re saying simply because Sarah is the VP candidate, and the blame for a loss tends to go to the top of the ticket, especially in a situation like this.

But the Atheist anti Christian American Media wants their Muslim to win.

No city subways for me in the next 4 years. Very Scary.

Palin should focus on herself, and getting herself ready to run against Obama in ‘12.

A stark reminder... if Obama wins on November 4th..or there abouts...we will be so endoctinated and overrun by socializm by 2012, that we won't ever see a " normal, free election"!!!!!!!! I don't like to be a doom and gloom ,but November 4th will be the end of America as we know it now!

But what I believe will happen regardless is that Capitalism will be the fall guy. Just like FDR gets credit for ending the depression the same socialist or worse solutions will perceived as the answer instead of what they really are, the cause.

Agree. And in CO, in the last SurveyUSA poll, "unaffiliated" or "independents" were going 50/50.

So care to explain to me how Obama wins getting only 80% of the dem vote (McCain gets 90% of the GOP); splitting the independents; losing the suburbanite vote; trailing Kerry by 15% among Jews; underperforming among Catholics . . . .

Couldn't be they are oversampling Dems substantially to get these numbers could it?

Yesterday I spotted a real anomaly;a Scion bearing a bumper sticker "Rednecks For Obama". I think I was seeing a violation of "truth in labeling"!

That's funny!

oh yea?

McCain has opened 50 new offices in California.
Wisc and Mich are still in play.

reality is that obama had a nice national lead...but a real movement has begun this weekend and the race will be tight with late breaking towards McCain at the end.

Many people said the same thing in 2006 and we got crushed!

The base was pretty thoroughly demoralised in 2006. It seems that is not the case now.

Yes.

McCain wins or loses tomorrow night.

He fights and tells the American Public about Freddie Mac, Ayers and Wright with a live audience that cannot be edited.

Well, I guess we have to do the sensing for you. Where have you been?

Remember Bob Dole? He was bringing screaming fans of 20 to 25,000 in the last few weeks of his campaign and I don't recall him winning. But I do recall clueless people here making comments that Clinton just could not win a second term and that the polls were a fake.

Ultimately, people vote for the president and not the vice president. Although, she could make a difference this time. It's too early to give up, but to pretend that there is not an Obama momentum is naive.

In August both Rasmussen and Zogby agreed that the election was not going to be about JM or who is running mate would be. The election would be about whether the voters reject or accept Obama. At this point they were both wrong as they could not see the financial sector problems at the time. This needs to transition to a choice for or against Obama as the two pollsters previously envisioned.
