Walking dog while armed (open carry)

While walking the dog this morning, side arm open carry, I noticed a car tracking me and the man driving the car was on a cell phone looking all upset. I tried not to make eye contact with the man and just kept walking.

I turned into the floodway park and let the dog run free for about ten minutes and noticed the car was still there and the man was still on the phone. I came out of the floodway and on the way back to the street I noticed two Gilbert policemen--one a supervisor, and Concerned Citizen (Out of Towner by his license plate-NJ) looking at me. Damn I must be good looking-or maybe it was the dog. As I hit the sidewalk I said "good morning" generically and kept walking towards the house. The two policemen said Good Morning and Out of Towner-Concerned Citizen mentioned that we people were nuts. About 5/10 minutes later the Lieutenant came by the house to make sure I wasn't uspset or bothered by this. Very polite young man.

Perhaps people in New Jersey don't walk their dogs.

I'm from Illinois. What's a handgun permit? Our benevolent King Richie doesn't allow those in his kingdom, which, despite county lines, extends to the southern tip of the state.

He cares so much for his subjects! You too may have the paradise we have in here in Illinois if you'll just Vote the One into office. Then Cook County can extend from sea to shining sea.!

Peace, out!

It's time we Zonies all open carry again. Maybe it will disturb enough out-of-staters who can't handle freedom to go back where they came from.

We accept freedom loving folks from all states. Welcome.

>Long story short they sold their house last week at a heavy loss and the realtor told me they moved back to SF.<

If you’re anywhere near Reno, I’ll buy you a beer for helping to dispose of the trash.

Only when hunting with lawyers.....

I keep the safety off, a shell in the chamber, my finger on the trigger, the dog on his leash and the Attorney in front....A little trick I picked up from VP Cheney..... :^)

If the dog’s covering up the gun does that make it “concealed” ?

Yep, I remember visiting AZ (Prescott) and seeing folks with guns strapped on going about their business.

Not sure whether or not OR allows open carry, but we stopped in a restaurant there years ago where the cook and waitress were both packing, which was a little strange. This was over on the desert side of the state, on the way to Boise. When my family and I received our food, we asked if it was usual for the staff to carry guns. Pointing to the large windows behind us, the waitress explained that the restaurant would periodically get shot up by pesky people going by. You never saw 4 people grab their food so fast and get out of Dodge.

Very perceptive, my technique also includes wandering too....usually aimlessly....

Being shadowed by a car with NJ plates. I admire your trigger restraint. :)

It’s the same in Oregon. Appparently it puts all of the mouth breathers out of work.

Its really not safe to go on a nice ‘brisk’ walk with a dog on a leash and a shotgun.

How do you hunt in your neck of the woods?

My dogs, pointer and a lab, flush hogs, point quail, and retrieve ducks. But not on a leash. Neither one is leash broke. They are obediant and don’t run off. Holding on to a leash and a shotgun at the same time sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

I have been stopped 3 times by OT's (out of towners) at the local Fry's while carrying. One time they had the manager approach me and called the police. While the manager was asking me nicely if I would put my gun in my car the police came in and told the OT that I wasn't doing anything illegal! Officer asked the OT why they approached me if I was armed!AWB

We can carry openly in PA with no permit?

Really? I may just have to visibly harness my new Taurus Judge then.

Thanks for your heavy lifting in New York. If you have any more questions about guns, don’t hesitate to ask. We all have our enthusiasms. If I don’t know, I can probably find out.

I live almost immediately across the street from the park entrance. At the time I was still out side working with the dog. As I said the LT was merely being polite and wanted to make sure I wasn’t upset. Upset? I thought it was funny as hell.
In Arizona we have no gun registration and no licenses except for conceal carry. That requires a 4 hour class and a fee. This is a Must Issue state http://ccw.azdps.gov/procedures/obtainPermit.asp

If any of you good conservative, gun owning right wing wacko types which to join us please do. We are getting too damn many Kalifornia liberals escaping the taxes their damn liberalism created. And you can walk you dog too!

“That requires a 4 hour class and a fee.” (8 hours, not 4, but we are working on it!)

Thanks for joining. We always welcome more activists here.
