WASHINGTON (AFP) US President George W. Bush on Friday signed a mammoth economic rescue package aimed at saving troubled US banks and easing a credit crunch that he warned could spell disaster for the US public.
After campaigning for the bailout for two weeks and courting reluctant lawmakers in person and by telephone, Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 before leaving Washington for the weekend.

I wonder what the ugly old hags on the “It’s a Wonderful Day in the Life of President Jorge” thread are saying about this?

Folks, if this is what we get under Bush, imagine what we'll get under McCain! What you said!

If these are the experts, then God help us.And we got MORONS telling us that Sarah Palin doesn't have the experience to be VP!
This would have never gone through if we would have had a couple of hundred Sarah Palin's in Congress and we wouldn't be in this predicament in the 1ST DAMN PLACE!

You, sir, are a traitor and should immediately have impeachment proceedings initiated for the act of Treason against the United States of America.I couldn't decide which was more appropriate, then I remembered: pixels are free.

The bill that failed Monday was better than this one. Be careful what you ask for, you may get it. So what you're saying is that we should just take whatever they toss at us, not even bother to question, not even bother to resist the encroachments of the Government...because they might gang up on us and give us something worse?

I just hope the geniuses who supported this monstrosity are watching C-Span right now. The Democrats are proudly proclaiming ownership of America and it’s financial institutions. They will do the regulating and I’m sure groups like ACORN will have all the money they need funneled in their direction. Who knows? Acorn may even become a federal agency under democrat rule.

Further cementing his place in history as one of the worst presidents this country has ever had.
You know what's the real rub, though? History will be written so that he'll earn that reputation from the things he did right such as showing resolve in Iraq, putting Roberts and Alito on the SCOTUS, and the tax cuts. The things he's done horribly wrong--prescription drug bill, CFR, amnesty attempt and prosecution of border agents, this bailout and the other bailouts, etc.--will not be written as his real failures because the left agrees with them. So what we'll have is a historical indictment of conservatism when all the problems stem from idiotic liberalism.

Let’s see if your mind changes in 1 month.
Deal?
I’ll wait for a reply so that we can both bookmark this thread.

Or maybe just a recognition that this is likely more destructive to our Country than anything President Obama will do.

This President saved our nation from surrender and defeat when he stood up to the liberal traitors in Congress and decided to continue the war in Iraq and has led our troops to VICTORY there and we have achieved this VICTORY. You guys are shameless and ungrateful. I hope that you are not that ungrateful in your daily life with the people you know.

Pst. The Constitution is designed to actively limit the scope and abilities of the government. Claiming that I need to find a passage that says Congress CAN (as opposed to CANNOT) is a misrepresentation of the nature of the document. Buddy, I hate this bailout bill too (and both my crap Senators voted for it, thankfully my Rep did not and he will receive my vote this year) but theres nothing unconstitutional about it. BECAUSE the Constitution limits the scope and abilities of the government, Congress must derive its actions from the Constitution, which is written in plain English. The Constitution enumerates powers. It says what the government CAN do, not what it CANNOT. Of course, it's a moot point anyway. They're just going to do what they want. It's getting to be time for the people to consult the Declaration of Independence.

Remember that smirk Bush always wore in the Summer of 2000? Then I was never certain what it meant but, now, looking back, I think I know what he was thinking: “Listen up you pantywaist Reaganite conservatives foolish enough to vote for me, me, my daddy and our friends are taking over this country. You’re about to get the rogering of your life, and you’re going to like it.”

Of come on you are being too hard on them.
Bush could open the borders, grant amnesty to illegal aliens, Sign Campaign Finance Reform, Create a trillion dollar Socialist Regime of prescription drugs for old people, nationalize industry and demand that taxpayers fork out a Trillion for Wall Street and the BushBots on those Threads would Stand and Cheer!

I will defend the President on this one. He saved us from an economic collapse and gave McCain a great chance to win this elections because without this bailout then socialist and defeatist Obama would be for sure the next President.
