John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.

Well when Fred Thompson went lazy on me and dropped out I went for Romney and I am not all business class. I am middle class and so is my family and we all voted Romney because he was the most Reaganesque.
I want McCain to win. And I’m moving along with optimism.
way too much union is a good thing. palin, being a hunter is a draw for many in the midwest who, altho they tend to support and display mostly republican values- especially pro gun- vote dem to keep their unions intact.
also there’s quite a number of union people who will vote against obama based on the colour of his skin.
mccain can stay out of michigan and wisconsin as long as he sends palin.
FYI, Iowa voted for Bush, was not a blue state until this year perhaps.
Here in Florida things look a bit grim as well. Little enthusiasm for McCain/Palin as of yet in the areas McCain should be strongest in - the panhandle and the I-4 corridor. Unless I am way off here, Obama appears to outspend McCain 3 to 1 when it comes to TV ads, print ads, even talk radio inbetween Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. The state is slipping away because McCain is not spending the resources that are needed on a state he must win. I welcome this, if it is true, because it may free up money sorely needed here.
I agree with a previous poster that the decision to go for public financing when his opponent does not have those restrictions may have been a big mistake. Obama can outspend McCain all the way to election day, McCain has to ration his money every day and can’t make big blanketting ad blitzes in important states, even if he wanted to.
I don’t know if this report is true or not. Here is what I think I do know. For McCain to have a real shot in Michigan, he needs to be leading nationally by about five points. Kerry won Michigan four years ago by about 3.5%, or about six points better than how he did nationally. Moreover, McCain has a better shot at winning Pennsylvania (a bigger prize) than winning Michigan. And even more than PA or MI, McCain may have a shot at winning Wisconsin (the closest state by percentage in the entire 2004 election).
In other words, if he is winning in Michigan on election night, this means that he has essentially won in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and with these two states almost certainly the election. Better to focus his resources on these states as well as red states where Obama is making a serious challenge such as Colorado and Virginia.
I tell you what....FR will go down in readership if we continue to attract the losers that we have....
Romney would be doing much better than McCain because of his knowledge of the economy and the ability to “turn things around.” If he had picked him for V.P. things would be turned around. Romney was not in the Senate and therefore would not have had to dirty his hands with that lousy bill.
The RATS knew this was going to implode before the election and that is why Romney had to be defeated.
Thank you Gov. Suntan, New Hampshire and South Carolina. You have given us the biggest dud since Bob Dole.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm perhaps I got those "strike outs" backwards.
;-)
Well, for what it’s worth NRO thinks it’s true...crap.

Something for all of you to keep in mind. About this time in the election cycle, the polls almost always have the Pubs losing by 5 or so points. And then we win on election day. So, don’t let the polls get you all bent out of shape. We will win.
AGREED
get rid of the north east though I do love NH, north CA can go and let them have their liberal utopia
us normal folk can live in peace, live with morals and let our kids be raised as we want.
what is the betting that liberal utopia will fall in 10 years and all those liberals will be applying for a visa here
Dodd et.al. are his friends. He would never do anything to offend them. They've worked together for years and years, eons and eons, etc., and he's not going to do anything to upset his buddies or worse yet, expose them for what they ALL are.
You’re right. Too many drama queens here these days. Why don’t they just head on over to DU? Their posts are being lifted and posted there so their voices are being heard and echoed all around. Cheap shots.
What happened to listening to the campaign itself rather than the media?
They would never pull out on the day of a debate. Makes ZERO sense.
I’m betting the “unnamed sources” are the DNC.
You know, all you need to do to make a rumor reality is get it repeated a couple times. Now instead of talking about Sarah in the debate they will tie us up saying, no we are not pulling out of Michigan.
C’mon people, quit buying all these rumours without any reliable proof.
I agree.
First of all, what "two Republicans" would hurry up and call Jonathan Martin to tell him "McCain is pulling out of ..." of ANY STATE????
With the MSM PROPAGANDA CENTRAL on one side censoring the real Obama, and the DISINFORMATION SABOTAGING INTERNET SHOCK TROOPS on the other side who's main job is 'demoralization' tactics, they are 'dividing and conquering' us.
maybe FR should just shut down til after the election....we are doing no good here except letting the trolls and the wimps and the idiots distract us with their ideology.
Not Wisconsin, according to the same Politico article. In fact, of all the blue states in 2004, Wisconsin may be closest to flipping to red. It was the most closely contested state by percentage of victory in the entire 2004 election.
McCain needs to be leading by 4-5 points nationally to have a real shot at Minnesota or Michigan. He is much better off refocusing his Michigan resources to Wisconsin, Ohio, and other places where he has a much better chance of winning the state.
Focus ALL money and efforts on Ohio, Virginia, and Florida. Protect agains voter fraud and make sure OUR TROOPS votes are counted.
