We FReepers and other conservatives were idiots. We thought that McCain somehow saw the light. We thought that Palin could bring him to the right a bit.

He has ruined a likable, intelligent "pit bull with lipstick" and turned her into a pile of jello that can only spew McLame talking points. Even with a friendly audience: I read her interview with Hugh Hewitt yesterday and then heard her interview with Hannity. Same exact talking points...down to the same words. She's not the same woman who performed in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial debates. Not the same woman at the convention. She sounded like a McRobot.

I am unimpressed and disgusted. Moreso at myself for being naive enough to think that McLame would actually do the right thing.

Prove me wrong, John...

Me too. I suppose it’s back to voting for Barr as the least objectionable choice.

McCain agreeing with Obama on the bail out is the final act for me. Sorry McLame will not be supporting you any more. I don't care what you say now McMoron. I don't believe you any more. Congrats you dummy you just elected Obama by ticking off your Conservative base for the last time.

Sometimes I think McCain agrees with those people who think it would be better for Republicans to lose and teach the country a lesson.

“She’s not the same woman who performed in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial debates.”

She was completely engaged in Alaskan politics at that time for over fifteen years. She knew what she was talking about in that setting.

I hate to say I think it’s trending strongly in that direction, too.
There must be some reason for deciding to submit to the MSM, rather than a steady and unwavering committment to go straight to the American people, with no apologies.
If she comes out of this “debate” tonight badly, having been set up by the hostile Gwen Ifill and her “sponsors”, there will be a diminishing audience of American people to go to. It may have been a BIG mistake to cut off her personal appearances, but they probably saw instead that she needed time to be coached for the debates that there was no way to avoid and not look like a chicken.

“Prove me wrong, John...”

It’s not going to happen. McCain has already lost this election. He should have stood up to the Dem smears that the financial crisis was the Republicans fault and voted NO on the Senate’s 812 billion bailout porkfest!

He is sinking in the polls and I am disgusted with him... once again.

The liberal media has been trying to play Gotcha with Palin. Every appearance is a chance for them to criticize her for being an idiot.

The MSM is desperate to stop Sarah Palin by any means necessary, including this article. Our local paper has been running the same spin.

Rope-a-dope. McCain has one chance, a surge of his own at the end. Sarah will present herself to the American people in a forum where she can’t be easily edited.

I remember saying McCain would ruin Palin...uh...lets see...debate night thread.

Don’t expect her to do anything but mirror the McCain line.

If I hear her talk reform and bipartisanship tonight, I will turn it off.

McCain is a bloody old fool. McCain just said this bill he voted for last night was more important than his campaign.

well, Johm McLame says “Hello, Barry Obama”.

The article is pretty funny. I am holding out hope for one more night. I think if Gov Palin can effectively pound the message of look where years of experience has landed us, people will again be in her corner. She should remind the public that, she is not the presidential candidate, Obama hails from the most corrupt and typically “Washington” machine in the country and Bidens foreign policy experience is bad experience and foolish.

This is an article from the LA Times.

Are there that many FReepers who buy into anything the media says?

{shaking head...}

He just proved you right on Fox and Friends. Gretechen just asked him if he was going to start attacking Obama especially after Obama has taken the lead and is picking up more steam day by day .. McCain says well we are going to continue our wimpy campaign.

I know the “I told you so” types can be an irritation, but I did tell you so. But most here probably didn’t need to be told, and plenty of you also told us, that it was beyond stupid to allow Gibson and Couric to have hours of interview time with Governor Palin where they could ask question after question and then edit it to show what they wanted.

Someone high in the McCain campaign is severely lacking in common sense. And that showboating campaign suspension last week was a dud, and maybe very damaging. (Also told us so on that).

The one hope, which many of us have also pointed out, is that Obama and company will screw up even more than McCain and company. That’s still a very real possibility, but the McCain camp is making it hard for them.

Governor Palin might give a performance tonight that will undo all the recent stupidity of the McCain campagin, but I don’t think many would say they deserve that good fortune. But maybe the voters as a whole do deserve it.

(The two worst presidential nominees of modern times.)

Don’t panic folks. I heard Palin on Hannity yesterday and she sounded great. Expectations for her are very low going into the debate tonight, which is exactly where she needs them to be. I think she will do better than most people expect. She also isn’t going to get Katie-type questions since Biden will have to answer them too. Also, with the 0bama book deal coming to light, Gwin will be on her very best behavior.
