The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
fair point to some extent.
Conservatives can only count on 3 things from a McCain presidency -
1. aggreesive exeuction of WOT
2. reduction in federal spending and some entitlement reform
3. appointment of strict constructionist and pro-life judges
Decide for yourself if this is enough.
IMHO, the BO alternative is horrifying, at best.
That's exactly right. It's almost like paying a ransom. When you pay a ransom you have no guarantee that the kidnapper is going to let their hostage free and no guarantee that he's going to harm the hostage. But boy oh boy you better pay that ransom just in case.
The question is: Who are we paying ransom to?
I'm with you, Rose, just look at my scary tagline. McCain/Palin will still get my vote, but if this bill works and the economy rebounds, I want Bush, McCain and the Republicans to get the credit, NOT the 'RATs.
And I want my idiot senator Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank in orange jumpsuits.
I guess I better keep dreaming...
You forgot to add... setting up Sarah as our next Prez. :)
Yep, we conservatives are done for, time for us conservatives to give up and join the liberals, we conservatives lost, they liberals won.....
My heart wishes that Mac, and the rest would scream from the rooftops how this is much better than what the Dems wanted, and I want him to name names & make them famous like he promised. I get sick to my stomach listening to Pelosi , Reid etc. claim how they are saving the country! B Hussein gets away with taking all credit!!
Dodd & Franks will be hailed as heros, meanwhile they deserve to be in jail! Mac has the "pulpit", I hope he uses it! /rant......
with that rant, & the Buc's victory today, I feel a smidge better. :0)
Think of America's deciding voting bloc as a man or woman who works full time, then goes to the bar and is drunk all night, then watches NBC News. Now, multiply that by 40,000,000
Now, try to explain it all to all of them.
AMEN and welcome to FR. :o)
LOL
Yeah, I’m getting flamed for trying to be reasonable, but oh well. It doesn’t hurt. :)
Yep, we conservatives are done for, time for us conservatives to give up and join the liberals, we conservatives lost, they liberals won.....
I’m glad you’re feeling a little better. BTW, I live near Green Bay. Ahem.....
“How is taking $700 billion from the national treasury and turning it over for the use of (benefit of) (formerly) private sector corporations NOT socialism? I dont know. You tell me.
Furthermore, seeing as how Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al, are effectively taking credit for saving America through this bill and placing the blame for the Wall Street failures squarely on Bush/McCain, why do you think McCain would get elected? If this bill passes, The One, The Obamaessiah is in like Flynn!”
I know you are right, Jim! I pray the Republicans say NO and McCain comes out against the bill too. I am sure there were very many Democrat voters calling the Capital against it along with us conservatives!
Something tells me that Pres. Bush is actually trying to save our mission in the WOT. I think Dems. have been holding this War on Terror and our troops’ funding hostage to get these schemes going.
Some of that short selling may have been financial terrorism.
Some strange activity was going on there with short sellers not just trading for profit, but seemingly trying to drive companies out of business.
The NY AG is investigating the matter right now and I think we may hear some results of the investigaton this week.
Why should we? I do not see the value in presenting a “united” front in support of this bill when the House Republicans have been treated like insignificant bratty children since they start raising objections to this. No one treats like they have any serious political power, and they'd be the easiest ones to demonize if/when this plan fails.
so what do the House Republicans have to lose? Don't stop at this POS bill. Don't operate on any time-line. Go fully after what you want, and if you don't get it, vote the bill down. The real Main Street, not the “Main Street” the Democrats talk about, supports the House Republicans’ dissension to this by 60%+. They've got tons of support out there, and it's about time they take a leap of faith and trust that the support will come through.
I think we lose a lot more by not fighting to the wall than we would standing up and vocally expressing conservative solutions to this problem.
Sorwy........ ;0)
What if McCain “takes another look” at this bill and votes against it?
Then, after an initial spike up in the markets reality sets in and they tank (which is what I expect).
Doesn’t that help Mac?
