The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
The kicker to all of this. This bill isn’t guaranteed to accomplish a damn thing. Except put us further in the hole. It may stem the tide but it may not and in fact may ultimately make it all worse. Not to mention rewarding the robber-barons and the fact that we looked to the same crooks who helped to set up this mess in the first place.
Finally a reasonable post. Thank you.
People in here need to get a grip.
Time to get on with beating Obama...
or our finances will only be worse and only one
of the many things we will be worried about.
Even when Iran nukes Israel?
“Keep trying to convince yourself. The GOP is done this election, remember 2006.”
Just my humble opinion, but I think letting the economy crash would not be that grand of an idea either, in terms of winning the election.
McCain singlehandedly stopped the original bill.
By all accounts, this is a much better bill.
Thank you, Senator Mccain!
The business view is being aired on FOX Business network.
Agreed.
You hit the nail on the head there.
Yes, they got the new bill, minus the pork....they could have turned around and not support it. Just like you said, they couldn't block the new bill anyway. They could have stood up but they caved.
That part about those Supreme Court nominees is the scariest part of him winning.
Agreed. He’s been the most level-headed person I’ve heard all week about this.
I have notice the trend from Jlazzz. But I’m seeing a lot of people here with a similar attitude. We need to calm down, take a shot of something strong, and make sure this never happens again. First step is to ensure a McCain/Palin victory and a Republican sweep in the house.
This bail-out sucks, and I hate the fact that we must sacrifice on our conservative principles, but we can never again be in an inferior position. Look, if McCain hadn’t come in we would have had a crap bill. He came in and brought House Republicans on board. They were not even on the table, because they didn’t matter. Never again. We take the house and the White House this November. And we need the Senate to keep liberals from the courts.
We could print this and use it for a dart board.
Re: your #191
Damn straight!
Slight humor break where there isn't much reason for one...a paraphrase of Dennis Miller:
"Shakespeare said, '(get rid of) all the lawyers'...I've been thinking about it, and you know, I think we could get away with it...because if you get rid of all of them, at our trial, we wouldn't have adequate representation in the eyes of the court."
Yeah, yeah, I might be smokin' something, but that is my dream. SOMEBODY needs to NAME NAMES!!!
He probably supported a Dem all along.
What idiotic reactions we are seeing here, particularly from people who seem to have absolutely NO idea of what it’s about and believe that it’s no different from their household finances. Something had to be done, this is much better than the initial pass, and this hysteria is disgusting.
Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark. Here kitty, kitty.
