If the great American middle class ever figures out the trillion dollar phony mortgage scam from Freddie and Fannie, they will finally rise up in wrath and throw the liberal bums out. And Barack Obama will be out of politics, along with the Democrat majority in Congress.

For conservatives this is the opportunity of the century.

WHEN WILL THIS BATTLE BEGIN?

Question? Can anyone tell me if Paulson is a Republican or Democrat? IIRC I read that he was a Republican, but then have heard people say he is a Democrat.

There are a lot of stupid people here.

How are you going to defend conservatism by getting Obama elected in a crisis atmosphere along with sixty Democrat Senators?

Perhaps some of you are simply masochists or something. But, I’d point out to you that you’ll have a lot less money to lavish on Mistress X if this doesn’t go through.

This bill is still not great, but probably needed to calm the markets.

Thanks to McCain and the House Republicans for stopping the Pelosi/Reid/Frank fiasco last Thursday.

We got to this this thing signed and move on.

As soon as it’s passed, McCain and the republicans have got to let the Americans know the DEMS were really to blame for this mess.

denounce the continued partisanship of the RATS, as demonstrated moments ago by Pelosi.

and then keep the RATS guessing thru the night.

And so the Great Goldman Sachs Bailout Bill of 2008 nears its passage.

You forgot HSBC, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Credit Suisse, Bank of China, Barclay's, etc. We're agreeing to buy their junk, too in this bill...

"I don’t know about you but I can’t afford for my mortgage to be called in tomorrow and need to be paid in full!"

I suppose that's theoretically possible, but I seriously doubt we'd see a large-scale calling in of performing mortgages. Whatever lenders may wish, they are ill prepared to take action against large numbers of citizens residing in their homes. As long as sub-prime mortgage holders are sitting in their homes with delinquent mortgages, I have a hard time seeing lenders trying to throw ordinary law-abiding citizens out of theirs. What on earth would they do with all the houses, even if they could evict us all?

So we basically give up our liberty for comfort. Give up our principles for even more government intervention in the economy and assurance of an even greater “crisis” in the future. And this bill by no means prevents the election of Obama.

I don’t know why Bush didn’t appoint a Blue Ribbon panel of economists and others (Forbes) to carry out this proposal in public rather than allow those who already benefited from Fannie and Freddie try to fix it in secret BEHIND CLOSED DOORS and without equal representation.
