Oh no!!! Sounds like a cave-in....please NOOOOO
They looked very tired to me, esp. Pelosi. It's clear they are trying to create a template for the media that will become fixed in people's minds so that when the truth comes out later, no one will believe it.
One bargaining point the GOP had is that they would keep hush hush on the lack of Congressional action over the past several years if Democrats granted some concessions. Once the deal is passed, that silence should be broken and broken loud and clear.
He looks like he’s been crying.............
oh, yeah! we are ANGRY! I suspect you are not taking us seriously.
THEY CAVED!!!!!
And how exactly are we the taxpayers going to profit from this scheme?
We’re not.
Instead of stockholders who see dividends from successful business ventures (which is essentially what taxpayers are in this whole fiasco) we’re basically going to get screwed no matter how this thing plays out.
Even if the federal government profits from this the surplus generated would be blown on wasteful projects like socialized health care.
Thinking that the population in general is actually going to benefit from this pork laden $700,000,000,000 addition to the national debt is naive at best.
Republicans lose. Republicans cave. This election is over.
I don’t know what exactly is going on either but the RATS sure do want Republican votes badly. It’s a high stakes game of “Hold-em” and I’d call & go “all-in”. Let’em pass this bill on their own (no Republican votes) as they can do.
He looks defeated.
You know your not stupid like they treat us and something smells about this whole thing.
yes, they caved, not surprised.
Taxpayers are protected now. We are still paying $700 billion!
Yep, sounds like it’s a GO! SICKENING!
“This is such a load of steaming scheiss. No way can a bill of this magnitude be even close to a good answer be decided in such a short time. They all need to stand together, tell Bush and Pelosi to get bent. Let the market do what has to happen and rebuild from the bottom up. I am sick of the news idiots saying the government is paying. No - WE ARE PAYING. McCain needs to lead and be forceful. Tell W where to stick his plan and Pelosi to STFU.”
You should send that to McCain! You are right, and if McCain and the Republicans cave on this, the next President will be Obama. This is the way I see it.
If the Republicans cave and sign on it pases. The mess that continues will be the Republicans fault because the DEMS will say they had to give up their first bill due to Republican inaction and go on and on about how the Republicans messed up the legislation causing the mess to continue. Bottom line it is Republican’s are to blame.
If the Republican’s stand firm and say NO and othing passes and will be fine anyway after a little recession. The Republicans can then say all is well and if we passed the bill the DEMS wanted the all taxpayers great great grandchildren would still be paying for it.
If the DEMS pass it on their own the American public will be to angry to vote for them in November. We must remember it isn’t just Republicans who have been calling the Capital!!
Best thing that could happen is Republicans say NO and McCain gets out there and tells exactly why the legislation is no good.
No sleep will kill ya!!
They are caving....
Tell your mother to put her IRA money in a Vanguard Treasury (backed) money market fund. I've heard those are pretty safe.
I don't know for sure, but I think they're talking about some of the fixed funds - the $1 a share type. And investment large pension funds invest in - might be derivatives. And those are toxic now. Does anyone know for sure?
I’m hoping Bush and McCain have some October Surprise that is a combo of proof of Dem malfeasance, and a better plan. I believe this is the root of his silence. When the other side is imploding stay out of the way and then swoop in and be a hero.
