The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Is there anyway to contact the House GOP? like now?

Hmmmm, if they look scared, I wonder if the “axe” will come down on them if they dont quickly “cover up” their dirty deeds...and if there are enough of them, that may throw the government into “loss of a lot of them” and cause an even more severe crisis.

The last I heard from Obama was a statement they put out, with him claiming credit for caring about the taxpayers and him saying Mccain gets no credit for anything to do with the bill. Obama is an arrogant ass. Anytime anything happens somehow he thought of it first.
Your neighbor bought a house just like yours and he has a mortgage just like yours - same interest rate, same principle, same number of years.
Your neighbor can't meet his mortgage payment and goes into default.
You are struggling to make the payment but you can just barely squeeze it out.
Your neighbor's loan gets bought by the U.S. Government and they negotiate a reduction in the principle and the interest. Your neighbor is back in business.
You find out!!!!! What to do????? How about a trip to the bank to find out how you can get such a deal. Or maybe you just decide to default on your loan as well. Why not???
Is there any doubt that this is the hidden "unintended consequence" of this bill?

I noticed that earlier in the week (same sort of comment from President Bush, not exactly this quote), and commented that is shows EVERYTHING runs on credit. What, we need credit for all of our daily needs? That proposition is counter to what I was taught, i.e., to live within my means - if you don't have the money, do without.
All signs point to "we're screwed." It's just a question of timing now.

True. I was thinking about the derivatives articles I have read that discuss obligating debt. I don’t recall where the article was that discussed the naked short selling, etc., and the tangled web of debt that ended up with an infinite bottom if the current course continued.
That is not true, never.
They can come to trust the people, and the judges in regulart courts of the US -- all of whom are still workable and able to guide us step by step through this problem. It is fear is our worst enemy. No one can make proper long-term or even short-term decisions in an environment of fear, haste and panic.
