Summary of Obama's debate performance tonight: "I've got a bracelet, too."
PBS ^ | 9/26/2008 | PBS

Barack was the very junior senator on the defensive the entire evening.

After John McCain eloquently (and without notes) discussed the bracelet he wears given to him by the mom of a dead Iraq war vet.

Trying to prove his own support for the troops, Obama chimed in with a pathetic "I've got a bracelet, too," as he looked down at his notes to read the name of the soldier.

McCain was wearing the bracelet and showed it. You need to watch it again on C-Span.

["I've got a bracelet, too," ]

Obama really said that? Good grief, how childish.

There are are a certain percentage of people who cannot be influenced. That is a fact. My circle is a case in point. I have carried a couple over slightly; however, they are still basically liberal by default. It is a work in progress. There are a number who will never see the light. My point is that we will never reach the folks who are yellow dog, rabid democrats.

Obama's condescending lecture style of speaking made it painful to even listen to...

Yep, Obama just went on and on in circles about doing this and that...but NEVER EVER explained HOW he's going to do or pay for any of it!

McCain did start off slow, but he picked it up and was way more detailed on spending cuts, what to cut, including a spending freeze - how refreshing.

One of my favorite lines was when McCain said that Obamabi keeps emphasizing Afghanistan but he’s never taken the time to visit Afghanistan.

To the best of my knowledge øbama only started talking about Afghanistan when it became clear that the surge was working and he had to find something else to criticize Bush on.

The main problem in Afganistan is Pakistan, and McCain surely showed øbama's weakness on that point.

“I was a little worried McCain was not going to go on the offensive.”

I was (and still am) a LOT worried about that first third or so of the debate (not about foreign policy) - my concerns were exactly the same ones Dick Morris ennumerated on Sean while ago. About the economy and this (Paulson) bill on the table. McCain missed several Golden Opportunities to point out the faults with it and what he and most of the Repubs want to see instead that would benefit the taxpayers SO much more. That would’ve been powerful - and why he didn’t seize upon that, I can’t understand. He should’ve known this was coming and really made it the power point.

I realize that McCain’s concern and time the last few days has been taken up by this critical situation and he doesn’t really prepare a lot for debates. (I like his honesty and spontaneity that way, but the sheeple don’t get it). He needs to be sharpened up on getting these points across to the public about this bail-out, the differences between his and BHO’s stands and how they would affect the people.

Especially since the next debate will be about Economy. Run, John, Run - you can do it, but not much (if any) margin for error here.

Can someone ping their Ohio list to the following:

Obama Parrot’s McCain’s Bracelet Line, But Forgets Soldier’s Name!

This was huge and shows Obama’s insincerity.

In the Friday debate, John McCain spoke movingly of a bracelet given him by a mother who asked that her son’s death not be in vain. His response was from the heart and obviously something he clearly felt.

Obama, like an adolescent copycat immediately chimes in “I’ve got a bracelet, too.”

Then he fumbles….he obviously has forgotten the soldier’s name. He HAS to look up the soldier’s name on his notes or think hard about it. He clearly looks down.

Amazing.

Adolescent parroting. Copycat.

To: Logical me

Was anyone else p*ssed about him talking over McCain so often? I thought it showed him very rude and impatient.

Yes, and that is an indication he is an arrogant a@@. He got his a@@ wiped by a real statesman.

Obama interrupting and talking over McCain ticked me off too, but what I thought was worse was how he kept addressing McCain as "John." It was condescending and disrespectful of McCain's position. The proper way to address McCain is as "Senator McCain" (just as the proper way to address BHO is with "Senator Obama"). It is just basic etiquette; I don't recall McCain ever informally addressing Obama as "Barack." Show some respect!

“He really should have waited his turn until 2012 or beyond.”

There used to be a great song called Love Won’t Let Me Wait. Well, in BHO’s case, unbridled greed, lust for power and arrogance/audacity just wouldn’t let him wait. :-))))))
