“Not just naive...but dangerous.”

Even better is how he said these words.

I can not look at obama. I swear to God, I really cant. I didnt like Clinton, (pick either one) or Algore, or John F’ing Kerry, or any one of the Dhemmrhoids that have ran in my lifetime, but I simply cant watch this guy.

Im sorry, I feel like I’m rambling, but am I the only one that feels this way?

Nope. I started to watch (well, listen...I was at work), and I had to shut it off. I can't stand Zerobama's voice, his speech inflections, his facial expressions, I simply can't stand HIM. Reading the remarks, I am sorry I didn't force myself but I will attempt to catch it on the rerun this weekend.

And now I just can't get the banana song out of my head...

Come, Mr. Tolly-Bon, tolly that obama... LOL

Brit Hume says there was no standout moment. I think the "bracelet" comment stood out, LOL

And the Iran question. McCain routed Obama on this segment (he merely won most of the other questions).

McCain may have nor wanted to poison the compromise underway and take credit for it by Monday.

That's what I suspect as well.

I haven’t had to review the entire thread so I may be saying something another Freeper has already said, but I think McCain’s tactic was probably geared to throw Obama off his game. I think Obama’s people figured they had to find a way to make McCain look weak compared to Obama so they wanted a direct confrontation-type debate where Obama could practice his body language and eye contact, could use his condescending “John” language, and could appear strong to voters. They probably figured it would work even better since McCain would be obviously more fatigued than Obama given his trip to Washington. I think they hoped Obama would look dominating and would cause McCain to lose his temper.

Instead, McCain calmly and simply explained his positions and used respectful language towards Obama. Here Obama had practiced his eye-rolling, his condescension, and his talking points and McCain refused to play the in-your-face game by talking to Lehrer or the camera instead of Obama and refusing to be drawn into a dirty fight. This threw Obama completely off and he instead looked angry and intimidating to voters rather than McCain. He had trouble adjusting to the peaceable McCain and occasionally slipped into the punk persona because that was exactly how he rehearsed the whole debate for three days, or more.

I think Lehrer probably did not let the questions be shown to either candidate but it doesn’t take a genius to know what type of questions would be asked, which is why Obama had a canned speech for each question. I do think Lehrer was encouraging more confrontation either because he was alerted to the Obama plans to provoke McCain to lose his temper or because he wanted controversy and ratings.

All in all, I think McCain came across reasonable, knowledgeable, and especially experienced. Obama came across petty, annoyed, and unable to control the debate. I imagine both sides will claim victory and both sides will feel like a perceived weakness has been countered: McCain as temperamental and Obama as nonconfrontational. They both sent messages to the undecideds and only time will tell which message got through best.

You have to admit that there are at least 55,000 intelligent conservative High School and College students who could have done a better job exposing Obama’s Socialist policies and the cause of the financial crisis.

1.) I don't have to 'admit' a damn thing.

2.) Those '55,000' students have the luxury of sitting on their asses and not having to stand up in the glare of the lights and the natural hostility of the media crowd and deliver the outstanding performance that we saw from John McCain last night.

Enjoy your weekend.

...and when he practically came right up to Dubya...

The part of that exchange I remember was the look "W" gave alGore.
It screamed, "Back off you sleezy gas bag"

Wow, excellent comment. Your description is spot on. I can see the debate in my mind, exactly how you described it.

Wow this thread was super difficult to find in search!

I thought that McCain handily won the debate and did expose Millhouse's inexperience just by highlighting his own vast experience of multi years in congress.

Personally I would have been much tougher on Millhouse than McCain but he's an old school gentleman, hard to attack him for that.

I had planned on replying to your comment last night, but just as I started writing it, the power went out here for a couple of hours. I too was wondering about Luntz’s so-called group of independent voters. I hadn’t heard all of his explanation about how they were chosen, and thank you for posting it. I had caught the last few minutes where he asked those same people questions about the debate. They were the same people he had shown earlier in the evening. I did catch that they were all from Nevada, and wondered if they hadn’t lied their way into a free trip to Vegas. It just seemed strange that no one in that group pointed out any problems with Obama’s performance in the debate, because we all know there were plenty. It was all negative stuff about McCain, so one has to believe that Luntz heavily edited the tapes to make it look positive toward Obama.

A focus group in Wilkes-Barre PA, moderated by the local paper, went heavily for McCain in the debate.

So someone disagrees with you and they’re a troll. That sounds like DU mentality to me.
We are a biased crowd, of course we dislike Barry, but all he has to do it look like he know what’s going on and he wins points. People don’t expect much from him and he delivers everytime.

I never got to see Mrs. Zero’s dress last night, and I’m just now going back through the debate thread because my power went out around midnight. I must say that was one nasty dress. It looks like a design you’d find on dining room wallpaper. Was that a black bow on the left shoulder? It looks out of place. I wonder if she bought that at Target, as I hear that’s where she shops. Bambi won’t shop at Walmart because they aren’t unionized, so I’m wondering why he shops at Target, because they’re not unionized either. But of course you’ll not hear that from the media.

It's not that you disagree with me.

It's that you disagree with reality, and you are doing it in the Dem's favor.

Notice that you didn't even *attempt* to engage any of the specific substantive examples I listed on post 4684 (which you were ostensibly replying to). The only way one could think that Obambi won is to have watched with the sound turned OFF.

Here's your Barack Obama/Barney Frank lollipop as a consolation prize.

Cheers!

“...he delivers every time.”

That is just a flat out lie that bears no resemblance to the reality that has been documented here over and over.

And OBAMA practiced in my hometown. All the local hospitality didn’t help him with his naive answers and erratic behavior!
