What Really Went Down in the Cabinet Room Today (Obama started screaming?) POSTED LAST NIGHT
Email from Mccain camp | September 25, 2008 | McCain Camp - posted by radiocirca1970

From Team McCain....

To Interested Parties:

To address our current financial crisis, John McCain suspended his campaign and returned to Washington, D.C., today to help build a bipartisan consensus for a proposal that would protect the American taxpayer.

Despite today's news reports, there never existed a "deal," but merely a proposal offered by a small, select group of Members of Congress. As of right now, there exists only a series of principles, including greater oversight and measures to address CEO pay. However, these principles do not enjoy a consensus in Congress.

At today's cabinet meeting, John McCain did not attack any proposal or endorse any plan. John McCain simply urged that for any proposal to enjoy the confidence of the American people, stressing that all sides would have to cooperate and build a bipartisan consensus for a solution that protects taxpayers.

However, the Democrats allowed Senator Obama to run their side of the meeting. That did not work as the meeting quickly devolved into a contentious shouting match that did not seek to craft a bipartisan solution.

At this moment, the plan that has been put forth by the Administration does not enjoy the confidence of the American people as it will not protect that taxpayers and will sacrifice Main Street in favor of Wall Street.

The bottom line is that as of tonight, there are not enough Republican or Democrat votes for the current plan. However, we are still optimistic that a bipartisan solution will be found. Republicans and Democrats want a deal that will protect the taxpayers.

Tomorrow, John McCain will return to Capitol Hill where he will work with all sides to build a bipartisan solution that protects taxpayers and keeps Americans in their homes.

THE POSTER SAYS HE IS IN THE MEDIA AND IS ON A MEDIA LIST WITH THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN

If the Democrats go all in and decide to obstruct reform/bailout, they are saying lets bring this thing down right now and see if we can get all the 401K wiped out white collars to come over.

The GOP (assisted by the DBM, ironically) is doing a great job of painting the bailout as a big taxpayer payoff to Wall St. fat cats (which, in truth, it is). They are using the class warfare card against the Democrats, who are champing at the bit to pass this bill.

The people are getting this and that's why opposition to the bailout is so fierce.

If Democrats can be painted as being all in favor of this bailout in its original form (payoff to fat cats) and then oppose an alternative which is more favorable to the little guy, then I like those odds for the GOP. GOP talking points:

"Democrats were all in favor of this bill when the taxpayer money was going to their fat cat friends on Wall St. and to their left wing interest groups like ACORN and La Raza, but they're opposed to a plan that would impose stricter regulations on the industry and not cost the taxpayers a dime."

I'm starting to think that there will be a bill, but it won't be the Bush/Paulson version or even a semblance of it. And it won't be passed today, or maybe even next week. But the longer the delay, the better the bill will be, IMO.

McCain has also managed to unite his party behind him, in a way that Obama never could have dreamed. The Republicans and McCain are working hand in hand right now.

The Obama camp is still trying to decide what to wear to a debate that might happen if McCain says it can go forward.

No. I watched it closely and there were not the cuts and pauses that one is able to pick up on “videotape”... (do they still use videotape?).

Obama has been coached to improve his speech patterns. He has greatly improved.

What I find interesting is that as a Senator with such poor speaking skills in the past, that no one ever thought to tell him to fix it years ago... or at least eighteen months ago when he started to run for president.

If they had, his performance at Saddleback would have received higher marks from the viewing audience.

I think he is ready to speak tonight. I just wonder what his answers will be. Because we can no longer count on the um’s and ah’s to bring him down.

As much as I don’t like obama I really doubt he was screaming during the meeting.

Maybe Michelle was with him.

I have an idea. Why don’t they just switch the VP and Presidnetial debates. Have the VPs debate tonight.

I have a feeling Palin has been practicing for awhile, and I bet Biden’s the last minute crammer type.

That you are pro nationalizing busness and industry is not a personnal attack, it just tells me that you are great troll material. I refuse to be scared into having my freedoms taken away when there is a better way to solve this problem.

What.... by lying about what the fellow said? He said nothing of the sort.

Sorry, but you're behaving like, well ... like Obama is said to have behaved.

I agree, he's improved, probably due to intense coaching. I'm guessing that the McCain campaign will be releasing increasingly aggressive ads between now and election day. The focus will have to be on Obama's history and actions, because you're right, we're past the superficial.

I’m wondering if the free market won’t begin to sort this thing out while they’re debating.

Two weeks ago I heard that Biden was rehearsing 3-4 hours a day. But that won’t keep him from putting his foot in his mouth, I’m certain of it. Can’t wait for the gaffes.

Someone else said this on another thread, but I think it was prescient. What do you want to bet the final bill coming out of this mess ends up being finally called the McCain-Clinton Act?

Thank God I have a secure job.

The only truly "secure" job is that of Tax Collector for the Welfare State.

Hey there yourself :) I’m quite a ways north of Valdosta, but I’ve been that way.

I love to listen to the elder folks talk - the things they remember and stories they tell!!!

Reid, Pelosi and Dodd are insane, but they know they have the power of the media on their side. RUSH is only one telling the truth, thank God he has millions of listeners who have mouths to tell the truth to the stupid public who only listens to MSM.
