The President had a busy day with meetings with President of Lebanon Michel Sleiman, President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India plus a visit to the White House by his father the former President George H W Bush.
In addition to the above and probably the issue foremost on most Americans and many others in the world the President and Vice President and their economic/financial advisers met with congressional leaders, including the presidential nominees to discuss the proposed bailout of the financial industry. Rumour has it that the meeting ended in vast disagreement and since there has been another meeting with Representatives from the Administration and the House and Senate on Capital Hill but no word as to any thing being agreed indeed it seems that the House Representative was an observer only and had no power to agree to any proposals made. Meeting has now ended and more talks will resume tomorrow.

Later in the day she met with Pakastan's President Asif Ali Zardari.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
President Bush Meets with Bicameral and Bipartisan Members of Congress to Discuss Economy
Cabinet Room
THE PRESIDENT: I want to thank the leaders of the House and the Senate for coming. I appreciate our presidential candidates for being here, as well.
We are in a serious economic crisis in the country if we don't pass a piece of legislation. I want to thank the spirit of bipartisan cooperation that's taking place here in Washington. One thing the American people have to know is that all of us around the table take this issue very seriously and we know we've got to get something done as quickly as possible. And this meeting is an attempt to move the process forward. My hope is that we can reach an agreement very shortly.
I want to thank the Secretary of the Treasury for working hard with the members. I thank the members for working long hours like they've been doing to come up with a solution that's bipartisan and that will solve the problem.
Thank you very much.

Snugs,
Thank you for all you do for us here on the dose.
The moral gravitas of this man has reduced his rivals and critics to mere children.
It is astounding how many people on the right and left think leadership is nothing more than being a critic.
Here’s a real leader.
