In my mind, its more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy, said the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama.
The statement was given in response to Senator John McCains surprising announcement that he had suspended his campaign to focus on the looming financial crisis in America by returning to Washington to help craft and pass emergency legislation.
McCain had invited his opponent to join him in returning to Washington to deal with the crisis. He also asked for a delay in the first debate of the General election which is scheduled for Friday evening in Mississippi.
Senator Obama refused, telling the media This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess. Earlier in the day, Obama had agreed to issue a joint statement with McCain concerning the crisis. However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCains move is some kind of political ploy.

Its already BEEN reported, by DRUDGE.
Drudge isn't MSM. Like it or not (I don't) but too many people get what they think is their news from ABC/cBS/NBC/CNN/MSNBC/NYTimes/LATimes/etc. And even if they report it, will they report it accurately? Or will they spin it in favor for B. Hussein Obama?

Fridays debate is about foreign policy, not the economy. That would be like debating flood control during massive wildfires.
They economy won't be kept out of any of the debates, regardless of how a debate was previously billed.

DIng Ding Ding, if McCain refuses to follow normal party procedure (and he knew debates were expected when he accepted the nomination) then the party should be able to say he breached his contract and replace him officially with Palin on the ticket. McCain is paid to be in the Senate. Since he accepted that position prior to starting his campaign, his primary obligation is to do his job.
BTW, I'm reminded of the plot in The Castle of Cagliostro (spoliers: McCain could use this as an opportunity for a dramatic reveal of some of the things he already knows about the corruption in financial institutions. Presumably the Senate will have access to information which wasn't public, so if McCain comes out and says he's shocked at how deep the corruption goes, he can take charge of the situation without raising questions of why he didn't act earlier).

Wouldn’t it be funny if he gave the wrong memorized answer to a question because he got it out of order? And he wouldn’t even realize it because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about anyway.

Come, Zero! Whassamadda, buddy? Scared of a GIRL?!? Scared of a "vastly underqualified" girl, at that?
If the media had acknowledged that Governor Palin was probably qualified, but had sought to remind people that she wasn't running for President, then if Palin cleaned Obama's clock the Democrats would have an excuse. But the media have consistently claimed that Palin's a lightweight nobody. The only excuse for Obama not to beat her would be if he had urgent business in Washington, and that excuse has gone out the window.

Obama Refuses to Delay the Debate
Well, of course.
This way, he gives the impression that he was eager and ready to debate and win against McCain. He's trying to win points even when there are no points to win.
Furthermore, for his part, he doesn't want to let go to waste all of those talking points that he memorized in the last few days of preparation. Heck, he was probably even filled with useful information which he probably thought he could spring on McCain.
Besides, all of that preparation would probably go stale and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to study up again. I'm under the impression that he's one of those that didn't like school too much and probably skated through high school and college. He's not too bright.
