Breaking: Obama Refuses to Delay the Debate

“In my mind, it’s more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy,” said the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama.

The statement was given in response to Senator John McCain’s surprising announcement that he had suspended his campaign to focus on the looming financial crisis in America by returning to Washington to help craft and pass emergency legislation.

McCain had invited his opponent to join him in returning to Washington to deal with the crisis. He also asked for a delay in the first debate of the General election which is scheduled for Friday evening in Mississippi.

Senator Obama refused, telling the media “This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess.” Earlier in the day, Obama had agreed to issue a joint statement with McCain concerning the crisis. However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCain’s move is some kind of political “ploy”.

"Circumstances like this is shows precisely why we have to elect McCain."

Agreed, clothespin election that it is the choice is still an easy one.

Elect Palin!

Okay, that other guy gets a vote too.

How can he talk about what he is going to do, if he doesn’t know what congress is doing? This isn’t going to wait until Jan. 20th, 2009.

Very telling his use of the words “will be.” I guess he doesn’t feel the need to be responsible for dealing with it now.

DIng Ding Ding, if McCain refuses to follow normal party procedure (and he knew debates were expected when he accepted the nomination) then the party should be able to say he breached his contract and replace him officially with Palin on the ticket.

Sen Obama didn’t have time to contact all of his hundreds of advisers and get them to poll his largest supporters (Palestinians, Chicago Mobsters, Communist Party in the USA, ACORN, etc) to find out what he’s supposed to think about the economic situation. And he’s afraid he’ll forget all that he memorized if the debate is canceled or delayed.

Send in Gov. Palin (and make him call her GOVERNOR and not “the Mayor of Wasilla”).

He should have called Obama at 3AM to see who would answer...

I'm sure you all have ideas on “Who would answer?”

I'm waiting for Obama to ask, “Where is FEMA to help with this financial disaster?” 3 debates; 40 days. They can easily debate another time, though the media will hoot and howl.

Don’t they know you need at least two to debate? How can the debate go on? Unless of course, BHO debates both sides each question, since he never seems to have a position.

McCain needs o stand firm on this. He cannot waffle AT ALL. If so he looks like the novice to Obama. He needs to come out in the morning and say that he will not be fielding any questions on the campaign, He is in DC to do the business of the senate. That is his day job. And he should mention Reid telling him to stay away and then tell Reid that “ I do not work for you!”

Send in Sarah to sub.

GOOD GAWD, Mrs. Z!!!! Can you IMAGINE the uproar if McCain were late to the debate, everybody wonders where he is (because he went back to Washington, like he said he would), then in walks Sarah Palin instead to take his place!?!

Be still, my pounding heart! I would pay CASH MONEY to watch that debate! Heck, I'd put up half a month's pay just to see the look on Zero's face when Palin steps up to the podium!

Let's TALK about experience! Let's DISCUSS the economy!

Come, Zero! Whassamadda, buddy? Scared of a GIRL?!?

This is the EXACT problem. All of the networks are already carrying the debate slot, I checked my cable guide and it owns the airways Friday evening. So while O won’t get to debate, he will have uninterrupted, uncontested air time to say whatever he wants.

I also want to say as an investor I am furious about the implications of this in tomorrows market. By declaring this an emergency of such epic proportions the campaign must be suspended, what do you think the effect of this will be on the markets?

I can’t believe people are applauding this. McCain needs to fly himself to MS, do the debate so Obama isn’t just speaking to millions of Americans about whatever he wants without being checked. If he did this and then went right back to DC to attend to business then it would be win-win, especially since the debate didn’t involve teleprompters. If he can’t do that, then he needs to step aside and let the Gov take the top of the ticket.

[Oh, and if you need him you can all him]

Whattaya’ wanna’ bet TOMORROW Reid will call Bama and ask him to come back to Washington because they need him, it’ll be the excuse obama needs to not look like a follower but a leader who is desperately needed by his party.

Obama would love to screw up the ECONOMY, but I think he'll get his A$$ handed to him. The Liberals screwed up the mortgage industry, and Fannie and Freddie had LIBERAL DEMS running (or was it STEALING) them!

Harry Reid, McCain's action is a GIMMICK?? Sorry, McCain is showing LEADERSHIP -- unlike what you and NANCY are doing.

Sen. McCain recommended the presidential debate be delayed until next week in MO, the day of the vice presidential debate. He then recommended the VP debate (question & answer session) take place on Friday in lieu of the presidential debate. Let Sarah and Joe take the time alloted to the presidential question and answer session. Then he and nobama can meet in MO, because Senator McCain has some business to attend to.

I just heard that Chris Cox can stop this money drain with a stroke of the pen, but won’t. Can someone explain why?
That’s probably the reason Senator McCain recommended he be replaced. (I never did care for Cox, he’s a professional appointee for whatever position, just so he stays in DC and rubs elbows with “big wigs”.)

What happens if O refuses to change the date? Does he still get the Friday night slot? I’m trying to keep my blood pressure down, someone throw me a bone and tell me he doesn’t get that free uncontested airtime.

“Craming for this debate?. He’s been studying the answers, his “leaders” have the questions. I don’t trust that dude as far as I can throw an Aggie’s outhouse.
