Someone said 7 billion dollars is about 4 grand per person. If the government is going to pring a bunch of money, maybe they should print it and send it to the peoplee instead of bankers who squandered it away.
This is the greatest thing McCain will ever give Obama, because we already know it will be a long time before Obama is ever ready to debate him.
I think at this point in this election you can count the genuinely "undecided" on one hand. And the problem for the Obama camp saying "we called McCain this morning" is that it is being seen as reactionary...almost a childish "me too! me too!" type thing. McCain beat Obama to the punch by going public with the idea of (GASP!) COUNTRY FIRST.
So far, Obama seems to think of his campaign first.
Good point.
Fanning the flames of panic for the benefit of a gang of crooks who are trying to corrupt American capitalism into Russian-style “crony capitalism” is grossly irresponsible.
My other question is why would Obama call McCain for them to make a joint statement, when Obama said he wouldn't make a statement on the economy and bailout until he met with his "braintrust" and came up with a plan.
Even if obama’s people called McCain, so what? It was for a “joint statement”. Nothing about a solution or taking the next step together, just more talk.
McCain took action and he did not need obamas permission to do so.
“That would be great!!! Palin vs. Obama LOL “
Boortz on CNN said the same thing.
Because by being in the Senate, McCain gets to speak from the Senate floor, and Obama (the idiot) has said he won't even be there.
Make no mistake: "the debate" is still on; Obama is just too stupid to realize it.
I disagree, teddy.
I am one of those independent conservatives that McCain has disappointed a few times too many.
But, this is reassuring to me that McCain actually has a sense of priorities, and helps to solidify my vote for him. I don’t buy Obama’s waffle on this for one minute.
I am reminded of an old hymn....
“There comes a time for every man....”
I think people are going to say, McCain can’t spend an 1 1/2 to debate?
This nicely sets up the new Republican campaign slogan:
Indexing
In Sarah’s book, there is a story about how she met with the troops leaving for Iraq instead of attend a debate. Her opponents were flummoxed and simply didn’t know what to do.
Putting the good of the people first? Politicians aren’t used to this. Perhaps Sarah rubbed off on him, or this is John being John.
Whatever it is, it feels right.
-now he can remind the Senate and the news that will have
-to cover it, the fact that he saw this fiasco coming and
-that the democrat senate refused to heed his advice just
-like the surge, I think it is a brilliant move
Exactly. The brilliance of this is that its not a suspension on anything. McCain will walk onto the floor of the Senate, in full gravitas mode, open up a huge case of ‘I told you so’, that will be forced to be covered by the entire MSM, whether they like it or not. He’s going over the media’s head AGAIN.
He truly is McBrilliant.
It’s the same old story; the “doers” versus the “thinkers”.
[somebody cue up “Thick As A Brick”, please]
Exactly right. McCain was going back whether Obama agreed to it or not. Leaders lead. Followers issue joint statements and do nothing.
