I love the President, but...sometimes I don’t know if he has his act together before he comes out on stage.

I'm glad that I've been one of those that has building my stockpile of dry-goods, can-goods and many other kinds of sundries and have a couple or three acres to grow my own crops. I still have a bit more to do to become nearly totally self reliant. The day approaches at an ever quicker pace.....
Note to self: buy even more ammunition.

What a load of BS.
Sounded like extortion to me.

VIKING KITTIES STILL RIDE WHEN THE PRES IS ON - CHECK THIS JOKERS TAGLINE. NICE TO MEET YOU, ZOTBAIT!

We are faced with distasteful alternatives.
On another subject, I sure wish Pres. Bush would have said the "bad" loans made by financial institutions met Fannie Mae underwriting standards. The implication, of course, is that the standards were imposed by the Dems.

As long as all your money is in your mattresses you will do fine. The rest of us who work for small companies which depend on short term loans may not be able to meet payroll. This means layoffs, etc.

"Washington Mutual has over 180 billion dollars in deposits,..." How much of that is FDIC insured? ($100K per person, $250K per IRA, etc.)
Also, this bailout is absolutely no guarantee WaMu will make it.

Sorry all of you W haters (not you HAL), but I must give him an A grade on this speech...I give him a "C" for Communist. He's crossed the line. The USA, as a country, is a failure.
Game over, dude....

Hi Bunny,
Did you notice GWB body language?
He was scared to make this speech.
No matter what good he did during his administration, this will be remembered. He let my investments go into the toilet.

Bank runs won't happen but the speech most likely just put the “average” American to $hit their pants.

i was hoping to hear he would resign and call for FULL investigations on all levels of the government.
Sounds like his basic speech was - GIVE US THE MONEY or else.
That is what I heard. Other?

If President Bush believes so strongly in capitalism, why did he socialize prescription drugs? That's just pure hate. You offer nothing but hate speech. Stop hating the president. He is a god among men!

Years ago we were turned down by Fannie May cause I had only worked for 2 years,my husband had worked for 30 years. We had to wait another year and downsize on what we wanted to buy.

Well, he mentioned the antiquated twentieth century regulations. I don’t think he had the same ones in mind that we would, though.

I agree, and so Bush yet again pisses off the conservative base McCain needed to come out in force. I’m even deflated.

I remember the panic mongering during the S&L crisis, how we would never be able to pay it back, how it would bankrupt the country.
In the end it cost something south of $130bn.
