The Θbama campaign told reporters that his trip to Pakistan in 1981 took him to Karachi and Hyderabad which would make it seem he was on the periphery of the country. Now, it seems Θbama went at least 300 miles north of Karachi to Jacobabad (named after Colonial British General who fought in 19th century Afghan campaign). This puts Θbama with 150-200 miles of where Osama bin Laden in Quetta! Isn't this worth a mention in any of his books or speeches? He seems to have been forced to disclose his trip because of news about a passport database breach in the State Dept.

The year 1981 is notable because Reagan was sworn in and the American hostages in Iran were released almost simultaneously. Θbama was in a country that was under martial law until 1985 and was adjacent to two countries in civil turmoil. Yet NOT ONE WORD about his trip until his disclosure in April of 2008.

Why isn’t the MSM looking into this trip that Barack Obama made to Pakistan during his Occidental years?? How was it that HE could enter a country that AMERICANS were banned from visiting at the time?? Did he have an Indonesian passport that would have allowed him to travel there? How did he have the money to travel there?? How is that he was hosted in Pakistan by Muhammadian Mian Soomro who was told to “watch over him” by an un-named individual living in South America today? Why is the trip not mentioned in his books?? Why a sudden transfer to Columbia University after that trip and why are his Columbia years a secret??
Here is the BEST question....Why is the MSM ignoring this story and focusing instead on Gov.Sarah Palin’s every word and deed in her life???? Someone had better do some hard questioning of Barack Obama (or whatever other names he has had....) SHAME ON THE MEDIA!!!!!!! We need to know these answers NOW!!

I don’t understand the linking in the article between Obama’s 1981 trip and Osama bin Laden being in Pakistan now. Was Osama in Pakistan in 1981?

Okay, this NEEDS to be investigated. Obama has questioned everything sarah has ever done....these are serious questions.

“The Obama campaign says Obama was in Pakistan for about three weeks, staying with his friend’s family in Karachi and also visiting Hyderabad in Southern India. NOW, It all sounds very innocent, ‘a college trip to Pakistan‘. Pakistan was in turmoil in 1981 and ruled of martial law. Millions of Afghan refugees were living in Pakistan, while the Afghan Mujahedeen operated from bases inside Pakistan in their war with the Soviets. One of the leaders that based his operation in Quetta, Pakistan was Usama Bin Laden (The Sheik). Pakistan was on the banned travel list for US Citizens at the time and all non-Muslim visitors were not welcome unless sponsored by their embassy for official business. There would be only a few reasons a young Westerner of the Muslim faith would travel to Pakistan in 1981: To Participate in Jihad, which is the duty of every ‘True Believer‘. For religious education in a Wahabbi sect, Saudi funded, Madrassa. In order to purchase drugs from the drug marketplace. Pakistan was not a tourist stop nor the place to hang out with someone’s family in 1981.”

According to the following article, Obama's mother was in Pakistan from 1987 to 1992 and that Barack spent several months with her. As far as I can tell, he graduated from Harvard Law in the spring of 1991 and did not start working for Program voter until April, 1992! (There is some thought that she would come and go to Pakistan and not live there permanently)

Did Barack have any job between graduation and April,1992?

Is the April, 1992 date accurate?

The mother of American Presidential hopeful, Barack Obama, Mrs. Ann Dunham lived in Pakistan for five years. During this time, Barack Obama also visited his mother and stayed for a few month. Mrs. Ann Dunham was hired as a consultant by the Asian Development Bank for Pakistan Agricultural Development Bank’s Gujranwalla Agricultural Development Program. This program began in 1987 and ended in 1992.

The Soviets had invaded Afghanistan in December 1979. They didn't leave until February 1989. Between 1980 and 1985, nine offensives were launched into the strategic Panjshir Valley, but government control of the area did not improve. Heavy fighting also occurred in the provinces neighbouring Pakistan, where cities and government outposts were constantly under siege by the mujahideen.

Excuse my apparent ignorance - but what exactly does Obama being in Jacobabad in 1981 have to do with the current location of Osama?

Is the author trying to imply that Obama was in Quetta in 1981? Sorry - but Osama wasn’t on our “most wanted list” back then...

But assuming that Obama and Osama were actually 200 miles apart - is there then an implication that they met back then?

I just don’t see a massive story in this. Kind of reminds me of some of the supposed “dirt” being thrown at Palin these days...

That being said - I am curious who the mysterious character is who now lives in South America....

Contrary to what has been expressed based on lack knowledge, things were quite different in Pakistan in 1981. US and Pakistan cooperation was just started in 1981 as a deal was signed. At that time there was no significant resistance from West to Soviet invasion to Afghanistan and only local Afghans were resisting. No Saudi aided “ Madarssa” were founded then. They were founded in later years to produce “ Mujaheeden” who fought war for US. At that time Afghan refugees were not allowed to move as far as Karachi. Mind it that Karachi is almost 1500 kilometer from Afghan-Peshawar border. Therefore there was no big narcotic trade existed then. In those days Karachi was a town of 7 million people ( now 19 million). Majority of those are educated and white collar/ industrial workers. Jacobabod city is known for hunting for black deer ( very rare) and also for “ Pallah fish” ( again rare). It is very close to “Moin-jo-Daro” ... some 5000 years old civilization ruins ( one of the most important archaeological treasures) of world. I was finishing my high school in those days and actually it was quite some fun to be in Karachi in those days (Still its not as bad as it appears on CNN). Therefore, despite all conspiracy theories, I am glad to certify that it seems quite innocent for a 21 yr old American college boy to visit his friends in Karachi in those days, who happened to know one of the largest and billionaire land owners in Pakistan...Somro family... they own hundreds of thousands of acres and millions of people live and work on their farm land
