McCain and Palin Get Their Gear on in Pa. (With Teutul's)
Washington Post ^ | 09/22/08 | Robert Barnes

MEDIA, Pa. -- With Sarah Palin in a red leather jacket and American Chopper dude Paul Teutul on stage, the McCain campaign took on a born-to-be-wild vibe a rally at the courthouse square here.

Palin introduced Teutul -- founder of the Orange County Choppers and the host, with his sons, of American Chopper on the TLC channel -- as he rode onstage on a white chopper, a type of motorcycle, dedicated to POW-MIAs.

Teutul noted McCain's years in a Vietnamese prison.

"Please everyone who lives here in Pa, try and do all you can to help McCain. We can stop Obama. He will not win if he loses our state. I’ve been volunteering for a few weeks now. Lots of blue collar types who voted for Kerry are looking very hard at Mccain. We can do it!!!!!

My 13 year old noticed something recently. He says he never sees houses with Obama yard signs flying American flags, but that homes with McCain signs often do. Recently I've been seeing a lot of homes flying flags - much more than usual. Now granted, we just had Constitution Day, but I wouldn't expect that to have a large effect. It really has me wondering whether the bump in the number of flags in front of homes has anything to do with "stealth" support for McCain. Around Montgomery County we are inundated with obnoxious Obama supporters, to the extent that my husband won't put a bumper sticker on his car for fear of vandalism, and he's been leery of putting up yard signs in front of the house. When we were on vacation, a prankster indeed messed with our yard signs, but nothing more. At church, a few of us kid about wearing "CC" buttons for "closet conservative".

I'd be interested in hearing from other parts of battleground Pennsylvania whether you're noticing anything similar.

I am thrilled the Teutul family is with the McCain campaign, they are a fantastic addition and a bike! Wow!
I saw Orange County Choppers Sikorsky bike this weekend and it was a beauty.
Trying to find a picture of the bike, so far not a closeup.

“Lovie, have you seen what those rural hooligans were riding at that McCain rally? It’s something they call a chopper, as if a motorcycle is not barbaric enough! Well, except for my Ducati.”

Ok now really. How can this guy be winning votes in the hood? Guys that look like this get their lunch money taken from them, they don't get to be President.

All thats missing from this picture is the slide rule hanging from his belt

Note to anyone born in the 80's a slide rule was used for complex calculations before hand held calculators were affordable. /sarc

In our town people that had McCain signs were gone in the night, Obama signs appeared in their place. Of course the homeowners took those down. However, I have noticed that some O signs that were up for a long time, were taken down and replaced with local Dems running for congress.

Hell, I'd donate to the Teutels to have them tour with McCain-Palin to warm up crowds across the country.

A stark contrast to the effete snobs, bitter hags, and anorexic guys that make up Snobama's coterie.

a white chopper, a type of motorcycle Great. Now Wapo readers will know what a chopper is and can bring up the topic at cocktail parties without looking totally like, you know, stupid. Wapo SAYS it’s a motorcycle but they KNOW it’s what the maid uses to make salad with. Just Republican propaganda.

lol...that was the first thing that stood out to me. The reporter acted like he just found out today that a "chopper" is a kind of motorcycle and he's eager to share his new found knowledge with all his little friends.... talk about insulated!

"All the Obama signs on my street are suddenly gone. 2 days ago there were several and now there are NONE."

While we were on vacation, some miscreant apparently stole all the Obama signs along our stretch of road and put them in front of our house alongside our McCain signs. All but one of the Obama signs were flat on the ground by the time we got home, thanks to our neighbor, I suspect. They had broken wire frames and were destroyed. We tossed them in the trash, which gave us great satisfaction. Eventually one of the Obama-ites down the road replaced his signs, but it took him 3 weeks to get around to it!

I’m bummed. I wanted to see Piper and get a picture of her with my eight year old. They are both missing their two front teeth. :0)

photobucket.com

upload and it gives the code which you just copy and paste into a post.

I notice you took the kids. I took my 8 and 12 year olds and my dim neighbor was disgusted. Couldn’t believe I would take someone who couldn’t vote to the rally.

Maybe that’s part of the reason he thinks obambi is great.

Hi, I live 15 minutes from Media. I couldn’t attend due to the fact that I have a spinal injury and I am having a lot of pain and difficulty walking. . I had 8 tickets so my friend who is a commander of a VFW picked them up and used them for his Vietnam vets and they went on bikes wearing colors.

He called tonight and said it was awesome!! The crowd stretched for blocks and blocks!!! He said Sarah’s speech was great!! He even bought me a Sarah pin and is going to bring it over tomorrow. He just said there were so many thousands of people there it was incredible!!! The Vietnam vets love McCain. He said the people there were so kind to them and thankful to them for their service.

He thinks McCain has a great chance to win in Pennsylvania.

Just got back from the Media rally. We drove up from middle Delaware. Discovered many other Delaware folks at the rally and met some PA people that had come all the way from Allentown. We made our reservations on line but phoned in an order for five tickets to the Republican Center in West Chester which was wise. It turned out the on-line reservations did not actually reserve tickets.

When we went to pick up our tickets they told us they were out, but when we mentioned our phone reservations, they found them. A party official said they had gone through 15,000 tickets. Going through security many people without tickets were admitted just on the strength of the computer printout of the invitation. I would guess the crowd was closer to 20,000. The Obama fasciti had small counter-demonstrations on side streets that were drowned out by the McCain-Palin people with chants of USA-USA,Sarah-Sarah and John McCAIN!

Some people near me said the crowd was bigger and more energized than the Reagan rally in "84. We were about 30 feet back from the stage. Sarah and John gave great speeches. Joe Lieberman was warmly greeted. The choppers (Teutels?)were great. A lot of veterans including me.

We took the bus over from the mall after parking there. Everyone was talking like they were old friends. The enthusiasm was contagious. I also was impressed at all the courtesy and good will despite the close quarters and standing for several hours. The local Republicans gave away free water in paper cups since water bottles were not allowed.
