J Street has just won its first political skirmish. Only a day or so ago it began a campaign to petition Malcolm Hoenlein and the Conference of Presidents against its decision to invite Sarah Palin to address a UN rally against Iran on the day the latter's president addresses the world body.
Yes, they need to elect Obama, who cozies up to Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, who hate Jews.
He hates whites, he hates Jews, and Michelle has his ear, and she hates them even more.
Sarah Palin and John McCain have no illusions about who and what was behind this. This wasn't an effort by Jewish organizations as a whole to make any insult to them and they know it.
This instead was the result of Partisan activists using threats and intimidation one week before an event to explode the New York Jewish community into factions because this community is looking very fondly at McCain and Palin rather than Obama. Especially as they have been writing in several articles about Florida. The Bubbies (Jewish Grandmothers) don't like Obama. And everyone knows how powerful they are.
Don't let unthinking generalizations and knee jerk antisemitism draw you into saying unfortunate things. This is a sea change. The Democrat party has made a historic, epoc changing error in this action and there is no way to put this cat back into the bag. Folks who wondered about their support for Israel need wonder no more. They have announced the election is more important, an infinitesimal gain that has long since been erased was more important, than the Jewish community, or Israel. Who can ever forget this.
It worries me a bit dalight, people are taking this personally and that is such a mistake, Gov Palin would not be allowed just to waltz onstage in NYC and show support, it’s Lib central, they pitched a fit and pulled out all the stops to make sure it never happened.
That is a mouthful of explanation compared to the simpler narrative of “NYC Jews don’t like Sarah Palin”.
I don’t like it, but if you read even this thread, our fellow FReepers are falling for it, they shouldn’t take it at face value, but some are...
I heard they were a tax-exempt group and democrats via proxy threatened to pull their exempt status if they continued with plans for Palin to show. Can anyone vfy?
New York Jews voting to exterminate Israeli ones. I'll bet the American-citizen Jews actually living IN Israel won't be voting Democrat this year.
That doesn’t wash. IF they had said yes to Wexler, where would J Street be? They’d have to fight it out in public and admit that Hillary was the one who didn’t really care about the cause.
What do you want to bet one would see her at any service, much less the High Holy Days. I don't know. Hard to imagine someone who could say these things seriously considering repentance and asking for forgiveness.
Yet, we are blessed with free will, and that means that some must and will bring themselves to shame, so that our conscience might be shocked into recognizing this folly for what it is.
Don’t forget that Marx, Engels, Trotsky, Fuchs, and the Rosenbergs weren’t Presbyterians, either.
Mmmm.. isn't it amazing? And they were stunned when Palin said, OK. I will be there. This is why they had to go full in and disgrace themselves to stop her from having this stage to herself when their cynical ploy failed.
Do it because it is right. Not because it’s popular.
They did say yes to Wexler.
Most folks understand Iran is an enemy, though they don't necessarily understand why. They don't know Sarah Palin. Just what has been in the press. They invited her because she said yes after a string of other people said no. And when she said yes, everyone celebrated because they knew how important this would be and how wonderful it would be.
Then it all came unglued. And the Leadership knows why and is shocked, stunned and saddened. Pray that they succeed in their mission to pull a rally together despite this fighting but understand they know who betrayed the community. This is a hard lesson in a week of other horrors.
It will take time for this to be processed.
But it was Her Royal Thighness herself who cancelled out when told that Palin would be invited to the same event. Then she had the chutzpah to lead the charge to have Palin banned. So she would be willing to speak only as long as no Republicans were allowed.
Although the 'Rats claimed that Palin's presence would have "politicized" the rally, apparently they had no problems with political speakers in past years as long as all such speakers were Dems. That's the issue: the 'Rats are getting away with controlling speech and thought in the Jewish community here, as they are wont to do in the larger American society.
Our Jewish FRiends here on FR have told us to not paint U.S. Jews with a broad brush about this issue but I’m telling you, 15,000 people slamming Gov. Palin (for being right, for supporting them by standing up for Israel and against a dangerous, anti-Semitic tyrant) is beyond the pale.
No longer will I look upon these peculiar people (as a demographic group in the U.S., I still love my Jewish friends, probably more so) in the same way, I am aghast at this behavior. This is very disappointing and this hurts big time.
However my support for ISRAEL will not waver regardless and when slammed from over there, I’ll still continue because I expect it, I just can’t see how Jews born here, raised here or having immigrated to the U.S. can act in this manner. Can they not see the potential for another holocaust? IT’S THE SAME MINDSET!!
