Vanity: McCain "Broke" When a POW
Me | 9/17/08

Posted on 09/18/2008 12:35:02 PM PDT by llevrok

Please help me track something down I find despicable.

Today I heard Rush say that an Obama supporter is calling John McCain "unfit" to lead because he "broke" when a POW. By "broke", that is - he gave confidential information to his captors or admitted his "guilt" as a war terrorist.

I've read many books on the POW's in captivity both during Vietnam, Korea and WW2. Most - if not all - "break" under torture at some point usually later than sooner. And all who come home carry this huge feeling of guilt for letting their fellow POW's, service, country and family down.

I would defy any liberal who is spreading this as a cause of McCain being too weak to lead spend 1 month - or 1 day - under such conditions and not concede to what their captors want them to say or do.

THis is an attrocious charge and needs to be nipped in the bud. Now.

He gave them the names of the offensive line of the Green Bay Packers! (instead of the names of his crew, or his commanders)

This should be on Rush's show tomorrow.

McCain just gave his ship name, something they most likely already had considering he was high profile.

Heck, the NVA coulda got the carrier name from the American newspapers. They could have examined the wreckage of McCain's A4 Skyhawk & probably found the panel with the ship's name stenciled on it (unless they don't do that on combat deployments). They might have had his navigation boards, too.

Another poster suggested that McCain's detractors couldn't hold out a day, week, or month under that treatment. Perhaps. But the really difficult part is NOT knowing the hour of your release. You have no future to look forward to.

Yes, he did “break”, now let me explain:

I read the anti-McCain POW sites and the “damning evidence” against John McCain complete with the transcripts of his radio addresses and the video of his confessions.

When he spoke, he spoke in the jilted, pausing manner POW’s are instructed to to indicate that the confession was forced.

I read the “secret” radio transcripts of his confessions using the ridiculous broken english written for him by someone who just passed English 101. He confessed to being an “Air Pirate” and other laughable, broken english nonsense that was so bad it was comical.

The pigs at that website then edited comments from folks like Bob Dornan saying how they heard these things and were shocked that is was THE John McCain, Johnny the Admiral’s son, etc.

Yes, they heard John McCain giving forced confessions of being an imperialist “Air Pirate” and other ridiculous statements that were obviously written for him in a manner that everyone knew was forced.

John McCain was my last choice in the primary, but make no mistake John McCain is a STUD of the first order.

All the POW stuff in the Senate against him is BS too, they got to the bottom of everything and for his effort he was still slandered by POW families who accused him and Senior Military officials of covering up and other LIES.

For anyone willing to research this, it’s all total BS, and politics aside John McCain is 10 times the man I or most every other man could hope to be.

I doubt I would have had the guts to last one tenth as long as John McCain.

What remains of the Hanoi Hilton is now a museum, most of it having been torn down to make room for a major high rise. What's left is clean, nicely preserved and generally well done. It is also as grim a place as I have walked through, from the outer walls encrusted with large shards of broken glass (in place of razor/barbed wire), to the size of the cells, well you get the picture.

Whatever one says of McCain, surely his bravery and strength of will to survive as long as he did in that hell hole demonstrates the stupidity of attaching those traits.

Curiously enough, 3 days after my visit to the Hanoi Hilton, I was in Can Tho, on the Mekong River, and while in my hotel room turned on HBO and was treated to the movie (I think) called the John McCain Story.

Lower than whale droppings. JMHO, of course.

Jeez, don't be shy about it, Jim! :-)

And for what it's worth, I totally agree.

He spurned an offer to be freed because there were other Americans who were being held prisoner for even longer than he was.

McCain’s refusal to leave and knowledge that he’d be subjected to even more torture because of that tell me just about everything I need to know about the man and his character.

Everyone breaks, that is why we are taught to resist as much as we can and when we break we are trained to strive to make the next session a new starting point rather than a continuation of the last session.

Vanity:
1. The quality or condition of being vain.
2. Excessive pride in one’s appearance or accomplishments; conceit. See Synonyms at conceit.
3. Lack of usefulness, worth, or effect; worthlessness.
4.
a. Something that is vain, futile, or worthless.
b. Something about which one is vain or conceited.

Yep, they are living up (down) to their name.

Bill was canny enough to sell influence for power and money. 0bama just gives it away to foreign powers.

The info he gave was dated and useless when finally given. Which is why tactical information is changed regularly to prevent compromise

My dad was in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and he told me pretty much the same thing.

I cannot recall exactly what he said about his training, but he was told something like this:

1. Hold out as long as you can stand it
2. When you can no longer stand it, tell them something untrue
3. If it keeps up and you are at a breaking point, tell them everything you know, because by then it is all out of date and useless anyway.

This will backfire on them just like the “lipstick”, emails, etc. did.

That’s correct, he signed some statement of “guilt”, but he NEVER “broke” and gave the Vietnamese any information, except the names of the Green Bay Packers starting line-up, for which he got another beating. He did nothing wrong or detrimental to other POWs or the USA.

Fine. Hook some liberal testicles up to 220ac with a promise of throwing the switch unless they vote McCain.

Liberals have testicles?

You know.....I may not agree with John McCain on some points, but this brought tears to my eyes.

I never served my country in the military like millions have...but I would die for it right now...in a heart beat.
