Palin's Fate: Death By A Thousand Cuts?
Vanity | 09.14.08 | Me

Posted on 09/14/2008 1:37:46 PM PDT by Alvin Poon

Despite her meteoric rise and popularity, could Sarah Palin's fate be equated to "Death by a thousand cuts"? In other words, could the constant daily barrage of of negative stories in the media and attacks by the Obama campaign induce, by their sheer volume and repetition, Palin fatigue? Is this possibly the strategy of the media: to cause those who might consider voting for her to decide it is just too much baggage? It may not matter that people believe the stories about Gov Palin or true or false, but simply that there is so much negative noise in the system that people grow weary of such a controversial figure and not want to endure what comes with it for the next four years.

I think there's something to what you're saying, but there's not enough time for Sarah Palin to peak AND for the momentum to reverse. With just seven weeks to go to the election, we're in good shape. People may start feeling sorry for Obama, but sympathy won't turn into votes for President. Sympathy could get someone votes for, say, Congressman, but not for President. Stay optimistic.

So far the accusers have received the cuts from their own swords.

Sarah actually gave birth to her own baby.
Sarah told McCain about her pregnant daughter before McCain announced her as VP.
Sarah didn’t try to abort her baby by flying while pregnant.

Obama has been campaigning for 19 months straight. It’s more likely that people have Obama fatigue. Sarah is fresh and different ... and just 50 days before the election.

I pray for a McCain/Palin victory.

First--NO...the DBM wishes this were the case, but she's doing just fine.

Second--Despite her meteoric rise...--can someone explain this one to me? Meteors fall. Why do folks keep using this annoying phrase?

Yo Tang, did Bubba Clinton die from a thousand cuts? Nope. The public rallied behind him and his approval rating went up. The media is attacking Palin much worse than Bubba during impeachment. I say keep the cuts coming. She will be Teflon in no time; she is basically there already. Oh yeah!

“Death by a thousand cuts”

If this works invariably, then conservatives could never get elected. The MSM just doesn’t have that kind of power.

Some are starting to get it.... Not sure that anyone is listening to this guy though. On the Dem side that is.

Ain't that the truth. It seems like he's been out there campaigning forever.

I look at the headlines of NYT and Washington Post every day, and each has had negative headlines about Palin as their lead story every day for the last two weeks. It is highly organized and coordinated.

This is their Battle of the Bulge. They have to destroy Palin, or they and Obama will collapse.

Alvin ? .... need to put it in perspective....
We have been living with Obama fatigue for the last 18 months... Palin came at just the right time... 2 months before the election.
There are those who will vote for her regardless, and there are those who no matter what vote for Obama.

Good point...it worked with Bush..but Bush caved in and refused to fight. He lost the base by going over to the cant we all just get along crowd.

So far this hasnt happened with Palin.....she is loved by the American people and as long as she stands firm we will too.

Methinks, Sarah Palin listens to another voice, not that of the fearful who see giants in the way.

The more they attack, the more it will sound like an attack, even if they try very hard not to make it sound like an attack.

That's been their obvious strategy from the very beginning. However, I'm not sure it will work for them.

Fear not. These attacks are like inoculations. When the Dems launch their anti-Palin October they will not be fatal.
