Solo in Nevada, Palin draws big crowd

CARSON CITY, Nev., Sept 13 (Reuters) - Out on the road as a solo act, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin fired up a large crowd in Nevada on Sunday by pledging to shake up Washington if elected with John McCain on Nov. 4.

After a farewell rally in her home state of Alaska, Palin flew to the "lower 48" U.S. states to campaign on her own in Nevada, Colorado and Ohio over the next few days before rejoining McCain.

Alaska Gov. Palin, 44, has quickly soared from political unknown to popular Republican politician in the space of two weeks, helping the 72-year-old McCain vault into a slight lead in public opinion polls over Obama.

The Obama campaign, which has struggled to respond to the Palin phenomenon, has issued fierce attacks against her in an attempt to undermine her credibility as a self-styled reformer.

She sought to reach out to voters beyond the traditional Republican base to independents who may well make the difference in McCain's battle against Obama.

"We're going to take our case for reform, that needed reform in Washington D.C., to voters of every background, of every party or no party at all," she said.

Having helped McCain generate large rallies when appearing with him, she showed herself to be a powerful draw as a solo act. Thousands of supporters cheered "Sarah, Sarah."

We’ll see, I’ve thought Palin was a huge boost for the Mtn West, but CO is a place that is changing, and GWB never really carried NV by a large margin.

I think she can bring those home, but I’d love to see some trends really breaking our way out in the Moutains.

Does anyone have a link to her speech? Have they made a video of it yet?(I know a little early yet probably, but I wanted to go see her but couldn’t make it, and I only live about 2 hour drive from Carson City, frustrating!)

Im telling you, i was watching with my wife and we were both impressed by her confidence....my wife does not get excited very often....but she is very WOWed by Palin...the way she speaks. Today, she has gotten better....

I really hope the Republicans rally around her like they did around Reagan....

I really hope Republicans come to her defense and not let the MSM try to rape her.......because that’s what they are trying to do....

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the running mate of Obama rival John McCain, is holding a rally at Jefferson County Fairgrounds on Monday.
Palin, who has been drawing huge crowds at rallies with McCain, was to appear Monday at an outdoor pancake breakfast at the fairgrounds. However, the McCain campaign said demand for tickets was so great that they moved the event to the Westernaires Arena and will hold a rally to accommodate more people. Her event is open to the public, but a ticket is required. Doors will open at 7 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m.
"Our phones have been ringing off the hook and the line has been out the door and into the street," said McCain spokesman Tom Kise. "Unfortunately the campaign has no more tickets to give away."

There are two Westerners on the ticket. That makes all the difference and Sarah's small government brand of conservatism strikes a chord with voters in these parts of the country. They're coming home!

Sarah is teflon. They can not destroy her. She has eyes of steel. She has JFK-Reagan type charisma.

:)

America loves her.

I’ll say one thing. John McCain has made the greatest comeback in political history, a darker horse than even James K. Polk. I remember the threads when virtually all of us used to curse McCain. Now he’s a Saint. Just amazing how things change.

I said I'd never vote for him! Funny how things change.

Wouldn't it be cool if California Girls determined this state's outcome? Girls of all colors supporting what Sarah stands for in the hope that they or their daughters might one day rise to such an occassion.

I really think they could have an impact 'cause when I went to Surf City- it was two-to-one. ;^)

Some think she should add some new material to these appearences. I read somewhere (a crawler perhaps) that she is sticking with the same message with the same lines and that the crowd became a bit subdued the longer she got into her speech. I hope this wasn’t true. I just don’t want her freshness and charm diminished in any way. And she should always be without spite or malice, just like Reagan. This will make her opponents madder than ever. Her motto should be from Horace, “non est iocus esse malignum” - there is no fun where there is spite. This is similar to Dr. Johnsons, “The cup of life is bitter enough without squeezing in the hateful rind of resentment.”

"One of you Nevada Freepers has to have some photos.....Love to see them posted here!"

Wouldn't it be great if we could get pics from all the campaign stops. Pics of how large the crowd is and them compare McPalins Crowds to Barry Hussein's Crowds.

I've noticed lately anytime Barry is speaking before an audience you never see shots of the crowd size.

That would be great, especially when contrasted with Ahhhnolldd’s surrender to the Democrats in Sacramento.

A feisty women from the North brings CA in, the libs would go berserk...seriously...

As for Surf City...phone numbers...did you get phone numbers and myspace pages...:>

I’ll bet the people who couldn’t get tickets will be out lining the road with welcome signs. Actually, that might be a good idea to overwhelm the libidiots who will probably show up.

Yes, they need her here, and she and/or Todd should raise the 12th man flag at Seahawk Stadium (idea stolen from another Freeper), as they are HAWKS fans!

Far from a saint Exx3...far from it.

The way I see it, we have to double the acitivism efforts when McCain wins, we know what his vision for America is, some good like winning in Iraq and combating earmarks..

Some really bad like Cap and Trade or legislate and steal, depending, a McCain win does not mean we get to go sleep, far from it.

However, I’d rather fight McCain then see Obama take us into Socialism with “New Deal II”

That's how I know they'll carry Colorado. The enthusiasm is amazing. We bagged Nevada and Colorado is a cinch!

Those are the two states that concern me the most.

I like where we are in Ohio. I love where we are in Missouri and Virginia.

I'm starting to feel very good about Nevada. Colorado still has me worried, but in the end I think we will pull it out.

Now that Dr. Dobson has come fully on board, the McCain camp will have the volunteers and boots on the ground that they are going to need in Colorado in order to overcome Obambi's get out the vote efforts there.

It was tough going at first, then I mentioned I shot a caribou and they started buying me drinks.

After I woke up, I was tucked-in and still had my wallet.

I wish they all could see my California girls.
