'Dimwitted' and In Need of a 'Chaperone': Palin Has Press at Point of Panic
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/13/2008 6:11:18 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

"I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail." -- Bob Herbert, NYT, 9-13-08

Bob Herbert's item in today's New York Times, She's Not Ready, is not so much political analysis as a howl of MSM shock and outrage. No-o-o-o-o!, Herbert seems to cry. I can't believe this is happening to us! Meanwhile, with condescension worthy of Charlie Gibson, ABC's David Wright suggests that Palin has been in need of a "chaperone" on the campaign trail.

The lamestream media is frying and dying. Their readership has shrunk to new lows and more every day are canceling their newspaper and magazine subscriptions and turning off their television news/entertainment shows.

The Internet provides more information than the rest of the media combined.

Someone posted a sise by side of the transcripts of Gibson’s questions to Obama and questions to Palin....I can’t find it...it would be worth thread, all by itself. The difference is utterly stunning.

The New York Times is only preaching to their choir. They have lost so many subscribers because of their blatant lies and bias, few people believe a word they print these days.

The bulk of America gets their news from the Blogs. Why did Sarah Palin create such a phenomenal stir? Because the bulk of the public is now tuned in, thanks to a new media that does not keep them in the dark or spoon feed them the information the dinosaur press wants them to digest.

The harder they try to stop this, they faster they guarantee their own demise.

Is Fox covering the “email” scandal?

They aren't covering much of anything but Ike. It will be up to the blogs and talk radio to keep this alive until Ike clears out. Then it SHOULD get some attention.

But that’s exactly the reason we have such long and intense campaigns. You want to find the individuals who best understand these issues, who will address them in sophisticated and creative ways that enhance the well-being of the nation.

Mr. Herbert, if you seriously think that Senator "Coke-head" Obama is the best man to represent these United States in international affairs and govern these United States, I would like to know exactly what record you are basing this on.

You media types have spent the last 18 months praising every word out of the mouth of Senator Obama since he doesn't have any executive record for you to also lavish praise on, and you have given these words no critical review.

For goodness sake, Senator Obama recited the Islamic creed to your New York Times in March of 2007, and you passed it by as if it were nothing.

What if Muammar Ghaddafi or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had recited the Apostles Creed? Don't you think that act, which would be a profession of the Christian faith, might have made, say, the front page for a day?

Well, why in the hell didn't you print such a front page story when a U.S. presidential candidate professed his Muslim faith to your very newspaper? Didn't think it was all that important? Or maybe you just don't understand the significance of reciting the shahada?

Maybe, just maybe, Mr. Herbert, you are the dolt?

I think maybe you are referring to “Baghdad Harry” Reid

“The war is lost!”

This from a dimwit who got his Journalism “degree” through a correspondence school, Empire State College.

Compared to Bob Herbert, Jason Blair’s stint at the NYT was a shining example of an Affirmative Action success story.

I find it funny that the media is so afraid of Ike. It’s a Cat 2 for heaven’s sake.

The Texans are standing outside BBQing and defying that storm to get them down.

Gee, Bob, that’s exactly how I felt when I learned that nobama had been an ACORN acolyte. But I didn’t have a forum like the NYT to mega-magnify MY outrage.

It is the Main Stream Press, who have become more like screaming cheerleaders for a cult figure and less like what a journalist is supposed to be.

They do it all the time. Eventually it unravells.

are you old enough to know or remember what they did to Goldwater 44 years ago?

I can remember my dad telling me that Cronkite had trouble urinating because he hated Goldwater so much.
