Shhh. Don’t you know the single issue voters have spoken and thus it can not be undone?

Okay, on another thread, his “spokesman” was quoted as saying McCain supports embryonic research.

I hope that report was wrong or a spokesman is about to be fired.

If this is McCain’s position, then good for him.

Good.

Things tend to get out of control quickly - including here. That's why I felt the need to clarify the McCain position quickly for all concerned!

Don't try putting lipstick on THAT pig - and by pig, I'm referring to McCain's support of killing babies through embryonic stem cell research.

His spokesman has clearly stated that McCain is not backing down from that position.

The ONLY way that McCain will get my family's vote is if he backs down from embryonic stem cell research and makes it VERY clear in his speeches that he is doing so.

Isn’t this his official stance from his official web site?

Don’t be a jerk about people’s convictions. We support life. If we are to be consistent, embryonic stem cell research is the destruction of human life. Frankly, we need to oppose the overharvesting of in vitro fertilized eggs too. But, if life isn’t a single issue to take a firm stand on, nothing is.

I’m a two issue voter, by the way. I can forgive a multitude of sins and still hold my nose and vote. But hate Israel or be pro-choice and you have lost my vote.

How could he be so mean to Michael J. Fox?

What you are stating is contrary to what is the OFFICIAL POSITION on THE McCAIN WEBSITE. You make YOUR OWN decision, based on YOUR CHOICE, BUT IT IS NOT McCAIN’s POSITION.

His web site can say anything that it wants - but the facts are that McCain has vocally supported embryonic stem cell research, and his spokesman confirmed it today.

McCain should be ashamed of himself, repent of that sin, and make it verbally clear to the electorate that embryonic stem cell research (new OR existing) will not be tolerated by his administration.

Ah, we have an elite in our midst.

It’s not about “single issues” with McCain. It’s a combination of several issues which have been widely documented and discussed on FR. As we’ve seen over the past few weeks. McCain can’t win just because he’s not Obama.

I’m not going to defend single-issue voters. However, offending them certainly won’t endear them to McCain. Voting for McCain does not mean conceding to his views.

Can you not read? You would rather have Obama who wants to kill babies born alive?

Get real — this is about the future of our Nation and if you want to protect the unborn then get behind McCain/Palin or be stuck with a President that supports killing babies born alive after partial birth abortion.

The choice is clear!

Politicket,
I hear you. What sealed it for me is that if McCain is elected more babies will live. If Obama is elected the genocide will be extreme.

Here are some parts of his statement on life that may give you some comfort. Palin only sweetens this pot.

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.

Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

However, the reversal of Roe v. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. Once the question is returned to the states, the fight for life will be one of courage and compassion - the courage of a pregnant mother to bring her child into the world and the compassion of civil society to meet her needs and those of her newborn baby. The pro-life movement has done tremendous work in building and reinforcing the infrastructure of civil society by strengthening faith-based, community, and neighborhood organizations that provide critical services to pregnant mothers in need. This work must continue and government must find new ways to empower and strengthen these armies of compassion. These important groups can help build the consensus necessary to end abortion at the state level. As John McCain has publicly noted, “At its core, abortion is a human tragedy. To effect meaningful change, we must engage the debate at a human level.”

Promoting Adoption

In 1993, John McCain and his wife, Cindy, adopted a little girl from Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh. She has been a blessing to the McCain family and helped make adoption advocacy a personal issue for the Senator.

The McCain family experience is not unique; millions of families have had their lives transformed by the adoption of a child. As president, motivated by his personal experience, John McCain will seek ways to promote adoption as a first option for women struggling with a crisis pregnancy. In the past, he cosponsored legislation to prohibit discrimination against families with adopted children, to provide adoption education, and to permit tax deductions for qualified adoption expenses, as well as to remove barriers to interracial and inter-ethnic adoptions.

Addressing the Moral Concerns of Advanced Technology

Stem cell research offers tremendous hope for those suffering from a variety of deadly diseases - hope for both cures and life-extending treatments. However, the compassion to relieve suffering and to cure deadly disease cannot erode moral and ethical principles.

For this reason, John McCain opposes the intentional creation of human embryos for research purposes. To that end, Senator McCain voted to ban the practice of “fetal farming,” making it a federal crime for researchers to use cells or fetal tissue from an embryo created for research purposes. Furthermore, he voted to ban attempts to use or obtain human cells gestated in animals. Finally, John McCain strongly opposes human cloning and voted to ban the practice, and any related experimentation, under federal law.

As president, John McCain will strongly support funding for promising research programs, including amniotic fluid and adult stem cell research and other types of scientific study that do not involve the use of human embryos.

I'm not trying to be mean...but you are completely ignorant on McCain's stand on this issue if you truly believe that.

Let's not base our politics on "wishes". McCain needs to repent of this.

There are internecine battles that we will have to fight with a President John McCain.

But that all comes later.

First we crush Obama, the left and the MSM.

No - you really need to "get real".

I, of course, do not support Obambi and the blood on his hands from his position of infanticide.

I also do not support McCain and the blood on his hands from his position of infanticide.

I do support Sarah Palin and her support of life, but she would not be in the position to make that decision as Vice President.

Here's my question to you:

Is a killer that murders 4,400 babies a day worse than a killer that murders 400 babies a yesr?

Should we vote for either one of them? The biblical answer is "No".
