Enticing Americans out of their cars is a notoriously difficult task. At Veolia Transportation, we hope our focus and creativity can provide a genuine alternative to the car.

Almost as long as there have been buses, Veolia Transportation has been operating them and we have learned a lot along the way about how to provide the sort of service that meets customer and client needs.

It starts with the basics: clean, comfortable, well-maintained buses, operated by highly-trained, courteous drivers. We sweat the details – clean seats, correct signage, availability of current timetables – as well as paying attention to the important things like maintenance and safety, heat and air conditioning and making sure wheelchair lifts work. Because these are the details that can really make a difference to a daily commute, or an occasional trip.
Operational Capabilities

passengers on bus We operate all types of bus fleets. From long distance to classic local transit, even to bus rapid transit (BRT) where in York, Ontario and Las Vegas, NA, we run two of the only private BRT contracts in North America.

We run more than xx vehicles in North America and over 15,000 worldwide. This means that we have the experiences to understand what makes the journey easier and for the local rider, it means we can tailor each service to incorporate their needs. For example, in Virginia, we offer passengers up-to-the-minute departure times on their cell phones or pagers. And we are actively in the process of providing wi-fi connections on many of our buses so that busy commuters can make the most of their travel time.
International Innovations to North America

Our global experience allows us to bring new, creative ideas to our local contracts all the time. Our experiences of light rail in Rouen, France, meant we understood early on the requirements of our client in Ontario to bring in a brand new state-of-the-art BRT system in York. Also from our colleagues France, we introduced our “EasyBus” to Northern Virginia, a small, reservation-based system that brings a transit service to the local community where it previously did not exist. It’s a unique way to provide transportation to areas that could not support a fixed route service.

Thanks for the post. Some folks still don’t know that the Metrolink Engineer and Conductors are contracted out to Veolia Transportation.

Your post was interesting. I’m sure Veolia provides hundreds of thousands if not millions of hours in labor each year with few incidents. One of these accidents sure delivers a black eye though.
