John McCain is mocked as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate in a television commercial out Friday from Barack Obama as the Democrat begins his sharpest barrage yet on McCain's long Washington career.

The new fighting spirit comes as McCain has been gaining in the polls and some Democrats have been expressing concern the Obama campaign has not been aggressive enough. Obama's campaign says the escalation will involve advertising and pushes made by the candidate, running mate Joe Biden and other surrogates across the country.
"Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign," Obama campaign manager David Plouffe says in a campaign strategy memo. "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people."
The newest ad showcasing their hard line includes unflattering footage of McCain at a hearing in the early '80s, wearing giant glasses and an out-of-style suit, interspersed with shots of a disco ball, a clunky phone, an outdated computer and a Rubik's Cube.

Especially people my age, 55 and older who don’t use computers and believe me there are many.
I'll bet he knows that Russia has veto power in the U.N. Security Council, too. And he knows where his true birth certificate is.
The more I think about this, the more I’m thinking McCain should pay to run this ad for Obambi! This is a stunningly stupid move on the Obambi campaign’s part. They are going to alienate a huge part of the electorate with this one.
I really did LOL reading your post and am still chuckling as I type.
A BIG high-five for that one!!!!
Yeah, this is a pretty weak issue that will backfire with most folks who aren’t computer literate (which is still lots of people).
They are holding their powder for the last 2 weeks of the campaign. Then you will lots of ads on the Keating Five and McCain’s temper. Just wait.
We have Easter pictures of our sons in polyester leisure suits from the mid-70s, they swear this is evidence that they were abused, LOL
Democrats decry ads featuring legislative voting history as “personal attack ads”, yet an ad addressing an incredibly minor personal skill such as PC usage is somehow “substantive”? What a bunch of morons.
Actually ... Rubik's cubes are really hot right now ... shows that Obama's team is out of touch. MIT has a cube club, and my daughter helped start one at her high school. There are now 4X4's, 5X5's, 6X6's, 7X7's, custom stickers and all kinds of new stuff. Disneyland even sells some with Disney characters.
Nice job, ODumba
Nice job, ODumba
Obama was a coke head in 82...just show a pic of Obama with that cig dangling circa 1982
Oh, look there...I posted more than once. I must be unqualified to lead (after 26 years of military service)

My dad has some of those same pix of my brother from the 70’s. When they go on screen, howls of laughter from all quarters. But he’d make a better president than Obama. How is that possible? Obama is cooooool.
This is going to backfire.
Most adults are, or consider themselves computer illiterate. I’d be willing to bet that many people that see this will feel insulted in some way.
The only thing worse than this ad is the decision to run it.
Exactly. Also it seems McCain has already stolen some of the fire on this issue by poking fun at his age on SNL. I hope this backfires on Obama. It's hard to guess if it will, however. McCain had some "silly" ads comparing Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney which were somewhat effective.
You can put lipstick on an elitist....would you please?
Anyone besides me glad were not looking at photos of Rudy cross dressing instead of McCain and disco balls? :)
Lots of voters do not even want to know how to use a computer. Between internet porn and identity theft, many people have decided to steer clear of cyber anything.
