Gallop ^

The positive impact of the GOP convention on polling indicators of Republican strength is further seen in the operation of Gallup's "likely voter" model in this survey. Republicans, who are now much more enthused about the 2008 election than they were prior to the convention, show heightened interest in voting, and thus outscore Democrats in apparent likelihood to vote in November. As a result, Republican candidates now lead Democratic candidates among likely voters by 5 percentage points, 50% to 45%.

Imagine the pure, indescribable joy of seeing Nancy Pelosi get fired if the GOP regains the House!

Nixon had price controls and JFK had tax cuts. Those studies should be controlled for actual policies.

If the GOP can take congress, we might be able to get some of the conservative Democrats to switch, as in 1994.

All Palin has to do is campaign with a congressman, tell the voters this is the man she wants them to vote for, and voila!

Those studies should be controlled for actual policies.

Just like everything else, you have to consider the PURPOSE of the study, ie, the pre-conceived conclusion the "studiers" want to promote.

Absolutely - if nothing else, Palin may have saved us from a filibuster-proof Congress.

This makes my day. The rats are asking for a huge defeat because of their party first country last attitude.

I am excited, but not over-confident. We still have a long way to go.

If this isn't some kind of a head fake this news is absolutely amazing!!!

If we do manage to take control of either or both Houses (a big if) I personally pledge to do whatever I possibly can do to see that the Republicans don't blow it ala 2006! I'll be all over my Congress lady like white on rice! We've really gotta make this one stick.

We may need to invent a new word. Skirttales? I am seeing this big here in of all places the Peoples Republic of Illinois. They took a bunch of down state seats by running pro-life pro-military democrats and got away with it because there was no national election. Now the Dem governor is on the verge of being indited, and they either have to take up positions that are unpopular in there districts or dump on the states favorite (BARF) son. It's not like we can win back the state but we may pick up a house seat or two. People in Peoria don't take well to the Dems dumping on small towns.

Another comforting thought.....the "yoot" vote, disgruntled, unhappy, brainwashed, drama-queenish spoiled campus commandos and fledgling radical-wannabes will show up at the polls in their usual unimpressive numbers.

Be afraid, Barry, be very afraid.

Its time to start spending money and cementing this surge. More money will come for later, but now is the time to push harder. Talk issues, but go for the juglar.

So, if you are a conservative, it’s not great news, just not as terrible as it might be.

So right you are. How else can we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
