Large and dangerous Hurricane Ike approaching the Upper Texas coast. Mandatory evacuations began in earnest Thursday as an estimated one million coastal residents headed inland. There were widespread reports of gas stations running out of fuel.
The National Weather Service posted dire storm surge predictions of 20-25 ft storm surge along the coast and bay heads. Hurricane warnings covered a 400 mile swath of the Gulf of Mexico.
Wholesale gasoline prices spiked 30 percent Thursday, or nearly $1 a gallon, out of fear of what Ike might do.

Do you think Stormpulse is the best model to follow?
I went through one at a coastfront hotel when I was young and stupid in Texas in the Early 80’s. It was a CAT one.
A couple of buddies and I drove down from Indiana to just see what one was like. I decided I would NEVER do it again!
I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t just tie him to the tree and let him ride it out.
It’s the cable out of NYC. I can’t screen shot but somebody here can.
Big fire in Houston!
I'll bet Humble would have taken you in...before you called him an idiot anyway. :) . Anti social dogs? Hmm. My dog runs for the garage if he even thinks you might be going out in the car. Of course there is only one of him, but he's bigger too.
We need Scottie and his invisible aluminum for seawalls ; }

FNC showing a fire in Houston?
I like the graphics.
NautiNurse can better answer your question.
:)Got it.I am a little slow.:)
Per Fox, some kind of fire in Houston. Hard to say where it’s burning though.
A friend just called from spring. Her daughter in NY called her and told her she heard on CNN that the eye had split in to two separate eyes. She’s really ticked off about the media hysteria and trying to scare people to death.
Where? I knew several vessels were on fire in Galveston Bay, but I hadn't heard this.
KHOU just announced 725,000 power outages out of 1.2 million customers
We are snug in our brick house.
Note, gunner IS a bonehead!
Yikes.
Go be safe, and check in later!
Prayers,

Geraldo is a crazy little man and
A crazy little man is he
He climbed up in a wobbly tree
For the storm he wanted to see...
(Sung to the widely known kids Sunday school song, “Zacheus was a wee little man”)
Sorry...seeing him like that had me giggling and thinking of the song...
No idea. It was a highway traffic cam. On FNC, lower left window - you can see it on the left. Hard to tell if there are water drops making it look like explosions, or real explosions.
