Democrat October Surprise? Joe Biden Steps Down, Hillary Clinton To Rescue
ThePostChronicle ^ | Sep 11, 2008 | Marc Centanni

An October surprise might be brewing. And not just your ordinary run-of-the-mill type of surprise, but a blockbuster one of epic proportions. Hillary Clinton supporters, your dream may not be dead yet.

In one of the more memorable moments in the Democratic presidential primaries came last year when debate moderator NBC anchorman Brian Williams asked Sen. Joe Biden about his reputation for talking too much.

Williams asked Biden, who was described by the Los Angeles Times as a "gaffe machine," if he could reassure voters that he would have enough verbal discipline needed for the world stage.

"Yes," Biden replied with a grin and a twinkle in his eyes, CNN Reports.

The third Senator from Pennsylvania has made two gaffes in the past week and one of them might actually have a little hidden meaning.

The other day when he stopped by Columbia, MO. The Senator was speaking before a large crowd when he decided to give special recognition to State Senator Chuck Graham, a Columbia Democrat.

"Chuck, stand up, let the people see you," Biden shouted.

However, Biden did not realize that Graham is confined to a wheelchair.

"Oh, God love you. What am I talking about? I'll tell you what, you're making everybody else stand up, old pal. I'll tell you what, everybody else stand up for Chuck. Stand up for Chuck!" Biden said.

Then yesterday, Biden attracted attention for telling a crowd in New Hampshire that Sen. Hillary Clinton "might have been a better pick" as Obama's running mate.

"Make no mistake about this," Biden said. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let's get that straight. She's a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she's easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me."

Wow. Is Biden about to take a dive?

World Net Daily writes: 'Intrade is currently predicting a 7.9 percent chance Biden will be dropped. Until the election is over, the Biden trading category will fluctuate in value between 0 and 100 like a stock reacting to daily news. The price has been steadily increasing since yesterday when Biden said Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., could have been a better candidate for Obama's running mate.'

WND also has the video.

On Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" last night, Sean Hannity asked Gov. Ed Rendell, D-Pa., "Will they replace Biden with Hillary?"

Rendell replied, "No, absolutely not. Joe Biden is here to stay. Next vice president of the United States."

The problem is how to extract Biden from the ticket and replace him with Hillary without making look obvious. However such a move might be perceived as yet again another indicator that Obama cannot make up his mind on anything.

The only way to make it happen is for Biden to save face. Call me cynical but I see a "personal reason" on the horizon for Joe Biden. And what will they offer him to make it an attractive option?

Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton had a two hour meeting today. The lunch meeting at was at Clinton's office in New York City and was the first between them since the presidential primary campaign that caused a rift between the two Democrats.

The beginning of the meeting was open to reporters and was your usual political fare. Clinton predicted Obama will win the White House "pretty handily."

The AP reports that the pair also talked behind closed doors later. A joint statement says the former president and the Democratic nominee discussed the campaign briefly, but mostly talked about how the world has changed since 9/11. How much you want to bet that the conversation also included, "If I pick your wife will you not F@!k with me?"

You see, word out is that the reason Obama did not pick Hillary the first time is because he did not want a presidency with three heads running the White House. The problem is that of governance. However if you do not win, as FOX commentator Charles Krauthammer puts it, "you cannot govern."

Biden was a safe pick before the phenom known as Sarah Palin. Now it's a case of Obama's reptile dysfunction versus McCain political Viagra.

Waht to do, what to do..

The only way, aside from Biden having a real medical issue, is for Biden to ask to drop out. Obama then goes through the motion of trying to keep Biden on, then after even more drama, for Obama to reluctantly accepts Biden’s resignation from the ticket.

I think Hillary would have taken the VP going into the convention, she could have run BO for 2 years and then Fostered him. Now she is more than will to wait knowing full well this campaign will destroy BO’s chances of running for POTUS again.AWB

I don't think Biden would leave voluntarily. The Clintons will arrange an Arkancide and then Hillary will step in.

“It’s totally possible .
I would watch Howard Wolfson carefully , as he is as close a reflection to what the Klinton’s are thinking as we will see in public. He has been very kind to Barry lately , which is quite telling . Something is in the works”

Heh.

What if Biden drops out, and Obama names BILL Clinton to be his Veep?

That makes no sense at all. Hillary would be stuck as VP for 8 years. Then she’d simply be too old (or dead)to run for POtUS in 2016

"Her $$$$ raising capability is gone She is damaged goods The MSM will make her a nonperson and build somebody else up--They are Clinton weary "

4 more years of Republican rule will heal and hard feelings between the Clintons and MSM. She runs virtually unopposed in 2012.AWB

You could be right, but it won’t stop her from campaigning.

I will be disappointed if the McCain/Palin campaign doesn’t head this off proactively. Rudy Guiliani’s comment isn’t enough groundwork...they need to start making more jokes/comments/etc about it. Although they have to be careful on the medical side, they should bring that up—since the fake medical problem seems to be the way the Dems can dump Biden without Obama looking like he makes poor decisions—along with being able to hint at questions about Sen. McCain’s health at the same time.

This is just a Democrat minion''s foolish dream. It'll never happen!

First, Hillary wants Obama to lose. If Obama wins, Hillary will never have a chance to be President. If Obama wins, he will run a second term and she would then be to old to run and win in 2016, especially after the destruction Obama would leave behind. If McCain wins he will only be President for one term, then Hillary can run against Vice President Palin in 2012.

Second, Hillary would be smart enough to know that if Biden is booted, it would be to late for even her to save Obama's lame posterior.

What about the possibility of Obama offering a one term presidency if Hillary accepts the number 2 position now? That would set her up even better in 2012. Otherwise she may have to wait two terms and run in 2016.

The problem is this, there are thousands and thousands of people, maybe millions that dont have cable TV, and we all know that ABC, CBS, NBC will show it as an awful turn of fate, and wont know any better!! The word needs to get out, that this may be coming!! The “Chosen One” knows he is failing, and its up to us to get it out that this may be coming!!

Far fetched, but the media would give Nobama enough cover to pull it off. In fact, they’d be orgasmic.

That would be suicide for Obama. Jihadists usually wear a bomb vest and take as many out as they can.

Seriously, Bill Clinton is history. His only chance of getting into the WH is as first lady/man.

Yep, I have been dreading, waiting with baited breath, for her highness to rush to the rescue of the DNC. It won't matter how lame, how tit-for-tat it will be adding a female VP to the Dem ticket, how misleading to the delegates who didn't choose her, the MSM will have nothing but more praise. And sends a sort of back handed message (if it materializes) to McCain with the 'older' Biden backing down. Sigh. October surprise? Yeah, about as 'surprising' as the Stock Market Crash of 1929 or the Mini crash of 1987. I hope it doesn't happen. I hope we can make it through October without any 'surprises'.

I just don’t see them being able to wait until 2012, and by 2016 the age of clinton will be gone.

If Barry wins, Hillary would have to oppose him in 2012 which would be repeat of this year.

When McCain/Palin win, Hillary will have to face a very tough, experienced, and univerisally loved Sarah Palin, as McCain will bow out for 2012.

The only option the Clinton machine has left is to maneuver Hillary into the top spot.

Oh yes, let’s wait to hear that Joe has a bad heart, or the asthma he suddenly developed to get out of the Vietnam War, has returned

That's no excuse, Obama can supply him with 'breathalysers' and 'inhalators'.

It can’t happen. This is the goofiest thread I’ve ever seen.

Something like that is just too desperate and would be political suicide for Hillary, AND for the democrat party in general.

Any hope or chance of Hillary for VP ended when Obama picked bidden, RATS voted and the DNC convention ended.

There is a month and a half roughly left til election day. The only “October suprizes” we will see from the RATS now will be smears and slander.
