Texas began issuing mandatory and voluntary evacuations as Hurricane Ike continued to strengthen and slowly moved toward an uncertain landfall destination in the western Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Rick Perry issued a disaster declaration in advance of the storm. Louisiana Governor Jindal released several hundred buses to Texas for evacuation assistance.
Reports from Cuba indicate widespread damage from Hurricane Ike, which raked the length of the island nation. The U.S. State Department again offered Cuba humanitarian assistance after a previous offer was declined by the Cuban government.
The stock market Wednesday rose as investors bought oil stocks and and oill futures fell.

Hard to tell by your comment, but knowing you as I do, I’m going to bet $5.00 you didn’t hear a peep of the interview. Thanks for playing.
Been watching Ike closely due to “my other island” i.e. South Padre Island. Still looking like “Tina beater” will be a CAT 4- monster before it hits the Matagorda area of South Texas, which this area has taken some major hurricane hits in years past.
On other matters, I attended my 5th Republican National Convention and not because of John McTraitor. It met my/our expectations, which was D- bad, except for my/our main man Fred Thompson. However, U.S. Congressional and local races fund raising and networking was excellent and went substantially better than expected. I feel sorry for Gov. Palin. Puppeteer Karl Rove is making a complete fool out of her with all of the Rove & Co. scripted misstatements and flat-out lies. Despite the current polls, the political Ph.D.s my PAC relies on at the University of Miami and University of Houston (who both have been highly accurate over the years) still projects Obama will beat McCrazy worse than Wild Bill beat H.W. Bush 370/168 in 1992. I concur with this. Come November, I think Obama-Biden will beat McCain-Palin like borrowed mules, to use an old Texan expression. Oh well, enough of my off-topic comments.

Thanks for the info.
He has MDS, you can’t cure that, they are worse than the Dummies.
How close are you to making evac plans?
Buoy 42001 is seeing some action:
I seem to remember there being a number of Galveston Freepers we haven’t heard from lately. Hopefully they are finishing loading the car and are about ready to go.
SPI is pretty safe, for the time being. Can’t say that much for the rest of us though.
Sure hope you’re wrong.
Evil Cotton Candy would be an AWESOME name for a band.
FT plays a good support roll, he does good at that.
Oh No Jim Cantory is in Galveston!
Hey girl, glad to see you joining us.
Oh Snap!
Yeah I just listened to him. He didn’t sound sure Ike headed there though.
I absolutely agree.
Lets hope not Carla

TWC is, right now, running a segment in which they’re asking, “is global warming making Ike stronger?”
